  • Great starter Voltage Meter with test leads.
Size: 2000 Counts
I'm just starting to learn how to use a voltage meter. Wanted something inexpensive to learn on first. This meter fits the bill. It came with a set of leads with protective caps on both ends. (This wasn't pictured on the seller's page for some reason. Might help to add a photo of this.) It also came with a 9v battery and a screw driver. I had to unscrew the back cover to install the battery. This was an extra step that might annoy some people. The back has a kick stand. I first used it on the Battery setting to test the voltage on my car batteries. The readings matched a smaller meter I'd used previously. I then checked the voltage on a bunch of AA and AAA batteries laying around the house. If anything, a voltage meter is great to have for just testing out old batteries. This product was perfect for my needs. Good product. Great value for the money. One note. A potential buyer may pass on this if they don't see a photo of the leads that come with this product. They may just think they're getting the meter and nothing else. ... show more

  • Decent low cost meter.
Size: 2000 Counts
I was looking for a low cost meter I could throw in my tool bag and not have to worry about it getting damaged. I have several fluke meters that I did not want to keep in the truck due to the heat and humidity where I live. The Surlaba multimeter was so inexpensive that I could try it and if it did not work I would be out very little. When I received it was very light and about what I expected for the price. The screen is not the best but still easy to read. I tested most of the features vs my other meter and they both read about the same. For the price I think it is a good buy,if you don’t need a meter a very often and don’t want to spend too much on a meter. It does read correctly and that’s what is important. ... show more

  • Good Econo Meter
Size: 2000 Counts
Is it a Fluke? Nope, but then it doesn't cost as much either. The leads are nice and pliable, the meter fits well in the hand, it matches my other meters readings and auto-ranges quickly enough. I like that it has a battery mode with built in burden since as a home gamer/hobbyist 9 out of 10 times I grab it I'm checking batteries, continuity, or line voltage. ... show more

  • Good meter to have handy
Size: 2000 Counts
This should do most things that the DIY person wants. I was disappointed that it doesn't offer capacitance measurement.

  • A better designed meter that does A LOT of different things
Size: 2000 Counts
Unless you're an electrician a multimeter is one of those tools you may not use very often but when you need it you really NEED IT. This meter is great and it addresses some of my pet peeves about multimeters in general. One issue that I run into all the time is that the test leads are too short to have the meter where you need to read it and still be able to put the leads where they need to go. This meter has nice long leads but it also has a hold button that allows you to save the last reading if you're in a spot where it's difficult to read the screen. There is also a switch to illuminate the LCD screen. This feature is a lifesaver if you've ever had to try and read a meter in a dark room. They've also included a simple pop-out stand on the back that allows the meter to stand up while you're working. There are a lot of features on this meter from reading conventional AC power to checking your batteries. The only thing I don't like is that you have to take screws out of the back case to replace the batteries. That's just a pain but other than that this meter is better than any I've gotten in this price range. ... show more

  • Handy for the home user.
Size: 2000 Counts
Yep, good for the home user for occasional AC/DC voltage/ohm/resistance readings. It does have a couple nice features like a Data HOLD key to lock the display. The VOM has an automatic RANGE setting that can be changed to a specific RANGE setting if needed. There is a button to turn on the meter backlight for those dark times. One nice feature is the No-Contact AC Voltage detection. Without touching any wires all you need to do is get close to the wires to determine if voltage is present. If your close to the wires and there is voltage present you get an alarm and a visual indicator to alert you. This alone will keep you safe and alert you to pending hot leads. Dinged it 1 star. My problem with this VOM is that the batteries are stored inside the case so to get to them you have to unscrew 3 tiny screws from the back of the VOM and then you can remove the back of the case to get to the batteries. Most of my test equipment is stored with the batteries REMOVED from the device because it generally is NOT something I touch on a daily or weekly basis. The back cover is a pain to remove because of the 3 tiny screws. Also there are 2 fuses under the back cover to Overall, good for the DIY home guy but don't think this makes you an electrician because this is just a tool. Be safe especially around hot circuits. Electricity kills. Use the NCV to test before you start fooling around with electricity. ... show more

  • Great meter for the price.
Size: 2000 Counts
Contents: (1) Multimeter (2) 42" Test leads (1) Mini Screwdriver (2) AAA Batteries (1) instruction sheet To insert batteries, remove the back of the multimeter using the provided screwdriver to remove 3 screws. then insert the batteries. this is also where you will replaces any blown fuses. This does NOT come with any replacement fuses. This listing says this is for beginners however provides not additional instruction beyond the physical switch/button use. So if you are knew to operation of such multimeters, please seek out proper instruction. Test leads are long and fairly pliable. I really like that. Meter is good size and easy to use. I really like the built-in No contact AC Voltage detector. My current kit uses a separate pen type voltage detector. I like how this one has one intergraded in it. Backlight is a great feature but hate how it has an auto shutoff after like 30 seconds. I tested this multimeter against a simple Walmart one I bought years ago. They both agree with each other on every aspect so I would say this one is accurate. I REALLY like how the AC/DC side has an auto setting so you do not need to manually adjust the setting to get the reading. However you can manually set that if you wish. I do wish this Multimeter came with a nylon case instead of having to purchase one separately. ... show more
