Overall, it does the job. I was changing burnt-out Christmas Light bulbs and sometimes it gave me a red light and sometimes it didn't. At first, I thought it was misreading the hot wires, but I figured it was a low voltage running through the wires therefore it was giving me a false positive reading. I've gotten good use from other Klein tools products. I've never had one of these non-contact testers, and this one works well. The way it works in a clear way is: green to say it's on, then red and beep if it detects voltage. An extra check after you've turned off the breaker.
