  • Know what you're buying before buying
Style: Round Slim Size: 5.25"
I got these in hopes to get a more direct sound from the speaker instead of it firing the backwave into the door. I didn't need it for the weatherproofing. Which it does a good job as it's sealed. I'm seeing a few reviews that complain about lack of bass and even giving it a bad review because they don't understand what the baffle is doing. When you add this baffle what you're doing is SEALING up the speaker. The airspace the woofer has access to is almost non existent with these baffles, so it's tuning very very high. (Sealed doesn't tune like ported does, the size of the sealed airspace dictates the "tuning") So that's why you will have a lack in bass is because you're rolling off around 200Hz+ in these baffles with the airspace these offer. (I'm trying simplify it to the best of my ability so if you're already familiar with how sealed/ported works then bare with me I'm trying to oversimplify it.) Hopefully if you are planning on getting these you understand that you will lose a lot of bass you might be used to. I'd suggest if you don't have a sub to invest in one and let the subwoofer handle the bass and highpass the speakers from unnecessary bass that the subwoofer will fill in. (This is just me rambling at this point, you can ignore this part most likely) If you don't have a way to highpass, you could get a 200uF Non-Polarized cap (4 ohm speaker. If it's somehow 8 ohm then 100uF or 2 ohm needs 400uF) for a few dollars to work along side this baffle and filter out the bass so they aren't using power to play something they can't play in these baffles. The FS will likely be in the 200-300Hz range so the cap won't do anything until below the FS where the impedance settles. If you cut a hole in the baffle then the cap won't work as intended and you can ignore this part. Cutting a hole will change the FS or resonance frequency of the speaker (Basically bringing it back to its natural FS point most likely) which will likely be in the 40-100Hz area which means the cap will almost do nothing at the FS of the speaker. If using this baffle without cutting a hole in it the FS will be in the 200Hz+ range most likely so the cap should start to roll off below that area. ... show more

  • What Kyle said! They don't friggin' fit!! *EDIT* I MADE 'em fit.
Style: Round Slim Size: 6.75"
I got these foam speaker baffles for my Sony XSGTX1642 6.75-Inch Speakers . Now, various websites claim that these particular speakers are also able to fit 6.5" openings, but I can tell you that they most certainly do NOT. I tried. And before you think, "Just drill holes in the frame," again, I tried. I marked out 4 holes, and was only able to successfully drill one, after over an hour. And even THEN, the hole (SINGULAR) was too far out when I tried to line it up (during an attempt to see if it was worth draining my drill's battery thrice more to finish the other holes). So these are 6.75" speakers; don't let anyone tell you different. So with that in mind, I purchased these for my Sonys. I was in doubt of Kyle's review, and thought he had no idea what he was talking about. So I ordered them, and they were delivered today. I had 2 of the same model speakers sitting under my bed from when I found out they won't fit the rear location of my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe despite numerous websites stating otherwise. (The stock rear speakers in my car were actually 7 inches, so I had to get the Scosche SAU56 7-inch to 6.5"/6.75" speaker adapter brackets . The stock speaker cutout hole will only allow the use of 6.5" speakers, unless you feel like drilling through the sheet metal...hence my dilemma.) So I tried to put the Sony speaker in the 6.75" baffle, but there was no possible way to make that work. Just like Kyle had said, they were just too big. I'd also bought the same baffles in their 6.5" size, and when I put the speaker in THAT one, it fit. "What a waste," I thought. But, wait - why'd I give it 2 stars then, instead of one? My reasons are: 1.) They seem to be of really high quality, and even come with instructions as to how to go about installing them (they're under the flap of the sign). 2.) Thanks to Amazon.com's outstanding return policy, I was able to get a refund instantly WITHOUT having to return the item. Apparently I'm a valued customer (although I think it's more of everyone getting just one free pass). 3.) They do not seem to fit 6.75" speakers with mounting tabs (like the Sony XS-GTX1642's or the Pioneer TS-A1685R's , but do look like they'd fit speakers with a rail (like the Rockford Fosgate P1675's or the Rockford Fosgate R1675's ). So, the bottom line is make sure you have the right kind of 6.75" speakers before deciding to purchase these. If you don't have tabs and just have a rail with holes in it, you should theoretically be fine. If you have tabs, these won't fit. ------------------------------ ***UPDATE*** ------------------------------ Since Amazon gave me a full refund without having to return them, I decided to try and MAKE 'em fit. And I did it! It took some strength and persistence, but I squeezed the baffles into the plastic holder, put my speaker on top, and applied pressure to hold them down while I screwed the screws in. They almost completely eliminated my annoying rattling issue. Make sure you cut a decent-size hole through the back and bottom of the baffle to keep your bass intact. My rating now is 4 stars, up from 2 stars. ... show more

  • Mixed review
Style: Round Slim Size: 4"
This is going to be a mixed review because I’m not really sure what to say. I installed these on one set of speakers, a cheaper set, and it accentuated the sound. Made it produce better low frequencies, just made the speaker sound like it was worth much more, I was very impressed. On the other hand. I ALSO installed these on a set of expensive speakers that sounded amazing right off the bat. My mind set was “wow! If these sound baffles could make that cheap speaker sound good, imagine what they will do for these”. Yeah well they made them sound worse then the cheap speakers without the baffle. Absolutely no mod or lower range, just straight high frequencies. This MIGHT have to do with my application though. The cheap speakers were 5.25’s located in the kick panel with a very holo area behind it. The expensive high quality speakers are 4 inch speakers in a very small awkwardly shaped area that the seatbelt actually runs through. So like I said. Mixed review, worked very well in one case, worked absolutely terrible in another. They’re cheap enough that I can say just get them if that’s your plan. If they don’t work out hold onto them because you never know. But don’t be surprised if you get opposite results then what you’re expecting. Very interested in how they’ll preform when I replace the kick panel speakers to the same brand expensive speakers. Maybe I’ll post a comparison video and change up my review. ... show more
