  • Much better than knock-offs
Size: 2" x 30' Roll
This is the best gold tape out there. I use it to line the inside of high-temperature reflow ovens. There is other similar looking stuff out there at a cheaper price, so I thought I'd test it. The insulating properties were very similar, but the adhesive is a different story. The photos tell the story. Please up-vote this review if you found it useful, so others can see it too. ... show more

  • Great tape, add some spray adhesive to be safe
Size: 2" x 15' Roll
Absolutely gorgeous, definitely keeps my intake temps down. As per the heed of other peoples reviews around the internet with premature peeling of the tape, I first sprayed the item I was wrapping with 3M super 77 spray adhesive. In my case I wrapped a turbo inlet I built as it is located across my turbos hot side. Before wrapping the intake, my first few drives with the car showed heat soak after full strong pulls, especially when it is hotter outside. I installed the tape by measuring the diameter (3" in my case) and added roughly 1/8" just for complete coverage. It took a while, but I flipped every strip over and also sprayed the 3M adhesive to the back side. After a few hrs of operation, one with higher engine temps the tape performed as expected, was cool to the touch shortly after shutting down the vehicle and showed zero signs of sagging or peeling up. A few drives and days later and same results. Even sprayed it off with water to clean the road debris off. One last thing worth mentioning, any sort of radius is going to be difficult to wrap. For this I cut the wrap in half and used shorter 1.5"-2" strips to get 180 degrees of coverage properly. If you are wrapping an intake or intercooler piping and your filter or coupler is rated for same diameter, I recommend leaving the gold tape back just enough for your filter to clamp on. In my case I am running a K&N 3" cone and it was too snug to fit over the gold wrap. After a few frustrating attempts I eventually ended up scrapping one 3" section as it had gotten too beat up during attempts to install my filter to consider presentable. See attached picture of my engine for reference. ... show more

  • Great tape for a fair price.
Size: 2" x 15' Roll
This tape is great! I wrapped my STI intercooler and aside from it looking great, it helps prevent my intercooler from becoming heat soaked. I have performed this install in the winter so I haven't had a chance to test it in the summer, I will update my review but I strongly recommend this product. I didn't have any trouble with the tape sticking to anything (intercooler or AC tubing), although I cleaned all the surfaces before taping. 7/31/16 Update: underhood temps are night an day difference. to be fair, I did this upgrade at the same time as a a turbo blanket and a larger hood scoop, so I can't compare how much difference was from just the tape, but I no longer feel like i'm losing power in the summer. It's a cheap upgrade with noticeable difference, I can touch my intercooler after aggressive driving or autocross, I couldn't do that before. ... show more

  • Cold air intake
Size: 2" x 30' Roll
It does a great job isolating the heat. I used the tape over my heat proof insulation foam and isolated my air intake compartment from the entire engine bay. In the photos you cant see it all but the hood has the heat proof foam mold to block off the heat path entirely. I used this material to make a true cold air intake where heat from the engine bay doesnt get into the intake. A cold air intake needs more than just a metal plate and a rubber seal. It needs to be isolate from the engines heat which is known as heat bleed. I ran a diagnostic reader on my air intake temp and the numbers didn't lie. After isolating the intake air temp went down significantly by 30-40 degrees. The heat out side was 71 at the time so that was the consistent factor where air can only get as cold as it is outside going into the intake of course. Overall i used this with heat proof insulation foam to make a real cold air intake and made all the difference. ... show more

  • Utterly Useless!
Size: 2" x 15' Roll
Supposed to reflect 80% of heat, but after wrapping my Cold Air Intake tube found it added 7-8 degrees to its normal temperatures. This is the same effect as some silver insulated reflective tape that didn't even advertise that. And this was $17 more at $39 total. What a waste of money and false advertising. If you're like me and want to cool your air intake temperatures, you'll have to get a turbo. Unfortunately that's the only way until they invent something that gets cooler as the engine gets hotter. ... show more

  • Doesn't stick
Size: 1.5" x 30' Roll
This stuff does not stick. It won't even adhere to it's self when unrolled. Cleaning won't help it still is not going to stick. The other thing is It's not thick. It has what appears to be like mesh sheet rock tape that is a single fiber of fiberglass thick glued to the back of a piece of gold Mylar. Defiantly not worth 40 bucks. I expected to be buying aluminized fiberglass that was gold in color and would actually block heat.. Mylar only works if there is an air gap. This is the reason why it will not work at reflecting ANY heat. there is no air gap. This is what the fiberglass is supposed to provide. but because there isn't any appreciable amount of glass on it it's not going to work. DO NOT BUY!!!! ... show more

  • I use it on my 2011 WRX with a Perrin front mount intercooler which got pretty hot with not only heat soak from the engine/trans
Size: 2" x 30' Roll
I did quite a bit of research before buying this product but man, it works. I use it on my 2011 WRX with a Perrin front mount intercooler which got pretty hot with not only heat soak from the engine/transmission, but also Texas heat. Before using it, touching the piping after running/racing the car was a true test of manhood, but after installation, the touch test became a breeze. It really reduces the temperature levels of the piping and it really add some nice engine bay bling too. Overall, it is a bit pricey but it does work at keeping the intake pipes cooler for better intake charge. ... show more

  • Great product for dropping intake temperatures
Size: 2" x 15' Roll
Noticed a significant drop in temperature of my aluminum intake pipe. The pipe was untouchable after a drive, with the wrap I could atleast touch the intake pipe. Doing a header blanket brought temperatures down significantly once more and now the intake pipe is warm but not hot. I'll consider this a win considering it's proximity to valve cover and exhaust manifold. Easy to install on straight sections, very difficult to wrap without wrinkles over top of welds and bends. ... show more
