This is a great product. The only problem is it is not strong enough for my face. I believe it would be great for people who do not have severe breakouts like I do. After stopping my birth control pill a few months later I developed a horrible cystic hormonal acne. I have tried several products over the last several months and after doing a lot of research and watching a lot of YouTube videos on acne skin care I realize I need a stronger retinol. Very runny and need to mix it into moisturizer to keep it from running. The applicator makes it a three handed process. It also has a funny off smell.

I love Dermalogica products and was so excited to give this product a try when it was offered to me through the Amazon Vine program. It seemed like the perfect solution for me as I am 39 years old and battling age related concerns and annoying breakouts. I was still fairly hesitant to give this a whirl though, as I have had bad reactions to retinols in the past. My skin is also very fair and freckled, and it can redden horribly if it dries out too much or if the retinol formula is too strong. I began using this very slowly, applying it only one night out of every three, for the first couple of weeks. I didn't have a reaction to it, so I began increasing the frequency with which I used it, still watching for the tell-tell signs of a bad reaction, but none ever came. Finally I began using this product every night and noticed that my skin was really looking much better. The first thing I noticed was that my skin tone was much improved! I looked brighter and simply more healthy! Despite this being an oil, I suffered no additional breakouts during this time. I have now been using this consistently for over a month and feel that it has certainly improved the texture and tone of my skin. I feel like my skin is looking younger, brighter, and more firm. While it has not cleared up the stubborn black and white heads that I have, it does seem to be minimizing the appearance of new breakouts. I am planning to keep using this product as I am hopeful that, given a little more time, it will clear up those annoying blemishes. People have mentioned not liking the smell of this product, and while I wouldn't say it's a strong smell, it is somewhat off-putting when you first apply it. The smell goes away almost instantly.
