  • Just what I needed
It's quarantine. You need a webcam. The Dericam is a great option to consider. I use a Macbook Pro and normally just use the built in webcam, but after quarantine I've switched to an external monitor setup so I needed an external webcam. This webcam was basically plug and play in both Windows 10 and Mac OS Catalina. In Windows I had to go into device manager and disable the Macbook internal webcam to get it to switch the default, but other than that it was recognized right away and did not need any drivers or configuration to get it running. The mounting clip has a height of 9.55 mm, so if your monitor's bezel is thinner than that it might cover the edge of the screen just a bit. The inside of the clip is entirely covered with a layer of rubber, so you don't have to worry about it damaging your monitor. My monitor has a large curved bulge in the back which prevents it from actually clamping on, so I just let it rest on the top. However, it rests quite stably on top of the monitor and does not fall off or wobble unless I somehow hit it off directly. The webcam lights up whenever it is active, but for peace of mind they also include a separate privacy cover which is nice. You peel off the back and stick it on yourself. Image quality is great! It's much better than the built in Macbook camera. I didn't include a facecam, but when you use it for videocalling, at a normal sitting distance of ~3 feet, the focus is much better. As confirmed, the webcam records at up to 1080p 30 FPS. From what I can tell, the image quality is best in slightly darker environments. For brighter environments, as long as the lighting is fairly even and there is no glare it maintains a great quality. You do get fisheye as you go towards the edges of the view, but in the focal point where your face is there isn't any distortion. The microphone is decent in terms of voice quality, though it might have some trouble picking up your voice since it is all the way at the top of your monitor. While there is some noise cancellation, it doesn't completely eliminate everything in the background. All in all, it's a great webcam for a great price. It's exactly what I needed and has great image quality. ... show more

  • Great product with adorable price
I was looking for webcam for my office online meetings and chat with my family and friends in USA and back home in India. While browsing on Amazon, I found this product with the specifications that I was looking for. After receiving and testing for couple of days I was supper impressed ,the setup was so simple, it took less than a minute, it was just plug and get going. Video quality is very good and it covers wide range. Color is also very natural. The microphone‘s audio quality is very good. The sound is crisp and clear. Overall I am super impressed what it offers with such an affordable price. This would be a very good option with this COVID lockdown and work from home option. I would suggest, look no far and order this one. You will love it!! ... show more

  • Inexpensive, easy to use, decent quality for its price range
I started with packaging photos, then product photos, then the last three pictures were taken with the camera itself. The box is smaller than I expected, but sufficient. I suppose that is typical for items that are intended to be shipped rather than sold at retail. It came in a padded envelope, but it's light enough that it was not damaged in shipping. The privacy shutter came separately - it has a pre-applied self-adhesive pad. (Application directions are on the Amazon product page.) I am not using it. The USB cable is nice quality - the stiffness may bother some, and it may impact positioning the camera, but it will be less likely to wear out or get damaged. The base has a threaded receiver for a tripod, which is nice. The base is not spring-loaded - it relies on being manually closed, not spring tension. Both surfaces inside the base are rubber-coated, so it will tend to grip. The camera has a hinge, so you can aim it up and down and not just where the base leaves it pointed, but it does not have a swivel from side to side. The unit was automatically detected by my Windows 10 computer, and Teams picked it up and used it as the default camera. A set of white lights come on when the camera is active. They are noticeable, but not distracting. The resolution (as expected) is 1920x1080 for a full-HD 16x9 image. The Windows Camera app says it will do 30fps at full HD. The color is decent for the main subject in a photo. The image has significant fisheye to get its wide-angle view, which is normal. Brightness drops off at the edges, and it's clearly fixed-focus, intending for a person at a normal working distance away, and not close-up images - the quality close-up is lousy. Which is to say this is a webcam for conferencing, not for photos. You won't want to use it for your eBay pictures. But that's not what it was intended for. The sound is not so good, but it will work. I compared with my Logitech USB headset, and the headset had better sound when it was behind my head than the camera had when positioned properly about two feet ahead. Summary: It will do its intended job decently, but the video will be better than the audio. If you don't have $100 to spend, it's a decent option. If you do webconferencing regularly for business, and if you can afford a Logitech camera for $100, I'd suggest going that route. If you use it for family and friends, this will work. As I write this, Logitech webcams are hard to find without scalper markups. If the company reads this, look into a better image sensor and microphone. The microphone might be improved by different installation - it may seem worse because of the small hole, but others with small holes have better sound. I didn't take it apart to see how it's mounted inside. Update: I used Teams with a coworker, and he said that the image quality is likely better than others in its price range. He said that in this range, a bright background (a window) usually washes everything else out, and this one doesn't. And he said he thought it sounded fine. I'll upgrade it a star. ... show more
