  • Best cookbook ever for casual, comfort food and pub-style snacks
We got this from the library and thumbed through it in the car when we had a few minutes to kill before going into a movie theater. We liked it so much, so instantly, that I immediately got on my phone and ordered our own copy from Amazon. To be honest, I HATE the stupid, cutesy name, and had I seen this on the shelf, I would have passed it by simply for the cringey title, but my wife isn't as picky as I am (as long as you don't call them "sammies") and she checked it out. Anyway... we've gotten so many cookbooks (sometimes without the ability to preview them) that, upon closer inspection, we decided were almost worthless to us. Maybe one in ten recipes would be "maybes", but more often than not, most of the ones that did sound interesting were either so complicated, or required ingredients that were so expensive, we knew we'd never make them. This HUGE collection made us drool on almost every page! Yeah, most of these are NOT HEALTHY, but they sure looks good! And the massive amount of photos makes this a must-buy for anyone who likes casual, tasty, common-man dishes. We're moving and getting rid of about 50 cookbooks and keeping maybe 5... this will almost certainly be the most-used of them all! 5+ ... show more

  • Lot's of good recipes
I've got a thorough library of cookbooks LITERALLY and this cookbook has probably one of the highest percentages of recipes that I plan on using of about any of the cookbooks I have. I've made two of the recipes and have already bought the ingredients for a third and have a number of recipes marked for cooking next. The Asian Chicken Noodle soup turned out amazing. I've already made it twice and plan on making it a third time. One thing to note on that recipe is that I could not find 15 ounce cans of coconut milk. All I could find was 13-14 ounce cans and a 25 ounce cans. Don't worry. If the cans have a little less coconut milk they will do. The big difference maker is making sure you get the salt right. I save adding the salt until the VERY END. About one small pinch of Kosher salt was all I needed. You need a little salt to really bring out the flavor, but get it too salty and you'll really kill the taste of all of the coconut, curry, etc. I also loved the fact that they called out using rotisserie chicken. It makes creating the dish a lot easier. You don't have to cook the chicken to cook the dish. Another thing to note, I made sure to leave out the flavor packet from the Ramen noodles. So I had some old beef Ramen noodles I wanted to use up and it worked perfectly because you just leave out the flavor packet. I also made the Greek feta dip. The dip turned out really good. It tastes better once it has been allowed to refrigerate. That recipe is one I might tweak some. It recommends 12 ounces of Feta cheese. When I tasted it after first making it, it tasted too salty and that was without me even adding any salt like it calls out in the recipe. It doesn't taste quite as salty after refrigerating it for several hours. Feta cheese has a lot of salt taste to it, so I may cut back the feta cheese some from 12 ounces to maybe 8 so that I can just use half of a 16 ounce block. I may also up the amount of cucumber to add a little more cucumber flavor and crunch to it. It gives a nice small hint of lemon and tomato. But I may experiment around with those some too, but overall pretty good. I also picked up the ingredients for the beef and broccoli noodles. The recipe calls out for wide rice or udon noodles. I honestly doubt that the picture in the cookbook uses either of those noodles. I think they likely used wide egg noodles in the picture. Rice noodles have more of a white color to them. The same is the case with udon noodles and udon noodles do not have that shape. Egg noodles on the other hand have that type of yellow color. Maybe the sauce helped color wide rice noodles that color, but I sincerely doubt it. Also, make sure you grab the baby bella mushrooms they call out instead of small portabella mushrooms. The baby bella mushrooms are going to be darker in color and should give more of an earthy flavor that you'd want out of such a dish. Overall, there are lots of good dishes. A number of them you might want to tweak a little to your tastes, but it gives a really good base to work from. ... show more

  • Can't Wait to Cook My Way Through
I'll preface my review by saying that I have quite a cookbook collection. After flipping though this at the library, I decided I needed to add it to the bookshelf. Delish is filled with simple recipes that incorporate easy to find ingredients and gorgeous pictures of the finished dishes. While none of the recipes are particularly healthy, they are quite delish! We enjoyed the Jalapeno Popper Wonton Cups and the Buffalo Chicken Meatballs this weekend. Both were quick to prepare, easy to follow and came out very tasty. Both can be made in advance for parties and will be enjoyed again in our house. We've also tried the Chicken Parm Burgers, French Dip Sliders and Triple Cheese Bacon Spinach Dip. You can tell all the recipes have been well-tested, because these were also "delish" with no modifications needed to the printed recipes. We're planning to try the Crack Chicken, Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Bake and Buddha Bowls later this week. This is a great cookbook for families looking for quick and easy meals that can be enjoyed by everyone. I'm enjoying cooking my way through this one and have tagged many recipes to try. ... show more

  • Quick & Easy
I spent a month cooking from this cookbook, and while I didn't really get around to everything I wanted to make, I do plan on re-visiting this cookbook in the future. Most of the recipes I cooked were quick, easy, and didn't require a huge grocery list. Most of items are pretty much staples. Some of the recipes didn't work out for me or didn't taste great, but most of them were great. It's not a health book, but the recipes are comforting and easy. It's a pretty hefty book, and should have something for everyone! ... show more

  • Delish to Delicious!!
Usually when I read a cookbook there’s only a handful of recipes I’d try. I surfed through this book and I was definitely glad I did. A great mix of different entrees and desserts of all sorts! A huge 👍 to this book!

  • Oh, how I love this cookbook!
The authors of "Delish" cookbook sure know how to have fun. The first dish I made was "Pizza Rigatoni Pie" and it is delish! This is a hard back book, over 400 pages, and uses heavy stock paper. Every recipe has a full page photo of the dish. The recipes are fun to read, very easy to follow. This cookbook is an absolute delight! I deeply admire how they make cooking and baking fun. The recipes are clever. They take cooking to a higher level. If you enjoy cookbooks, get this one. I have given this cookbook as a Christmas gift. This cookbook has made me a better cook, and more confident in the kitchen. Bravo! ... show more
