The material is thick to make it pretty dark in here during the day, I think they keep it cooler in the summer, the quality/material is very nice. I threw them in the dryer to smooth them out from the packaging, these should be very easy to wash if needed. You have complete privacy, the length and width is great for each window. The fabric is very soft, velvety and thick. The color is lovely and matches the room nicely. However, they're not true 100% blackout curtains. They do darken the room, but I'd say maybe only 70-80% at maximum. My husband works graveyard, so the morning light that shines directly into our bedroom window isn't ideal. We were looking for curtains that would darken the room to nighttime levels so he could sleep better. Perhaps a darker color would dampen the light more (we chose the khaki color), but I don't really think it'll help much. ... show more

These curtains are amazing. They block out so much light! I was sleeping in a room with just blinds and was waking up as soon as the sun came up. Now that I have these curtains I can sleep in or at least sleep till my alarm goes off. These are true black out.
