Description

SR2000 is the ultimate bass string built in the same manner as piano strings (no windings over the bridge) so the string has total freedom to vibrate. This special winding produces a string with the widest variance of tone of any string made. SR2000 has been the secret weapon of session players for years.

  • Great sound, bad QC
Size: 1 Style: 47-107 - Medium Custom
The strings that worked sound fantastic, they have a chime to the tone that has incredible bite. However the A string on my set had a broken core that vibrated rendering unusable, on the upside I had a brand new .80 singles daddario prosteels and the prosteels mixes with the set quite well just wish the quality control was up to par these sound great. ... show more

  • Quality control issues
Incomplete set. Came with 6 strings instead of the 7 that was supposed to be inside. Plus one of those 6 strings were dead. Thud thud thud. Luckily I had a replacement string to replace that one. So in fact, it only came with 5 strings. Lame.

  • My Go To String for Years...but Not for Every Bass
Size: 1 Style: 46-125 - Medium Light
I really love these strings. I was first turned on to them while I was in music college and haven’t turned back. I use them on MOST of my basses. They sound great (in my opinion) and as another reviewer said, they do sound very piano like. Their feel is responsive yet not too stiff and it’s my favorite low B in the business...however... there are a few things to consider: -These do NOT work with through body string routing at the bridge. I have a couple basses that these won’t work on for that reason. -These do NOT work with many two piece bridges. I’ve found these won’t work on my Warwick or Alembic basses because the exposed core doesn’t line up on the bridge saddle properly. But these two issues are with all exposed/tapered core strings. -Last down side is on the last set one of the strings (D) had a broken core out of the bag. It strung up fine but had a horrible buzz the wrappings held it together but the core inside was vibrating around like crazy and sounds like crap. I’ll be returning this set when my replacement set comes in. ... show more

  • great sounding strings

love these strings, but quality control at dean markley is non-existent. i have received many packages with defective strings right out of the package. sometimes they replace them, sometimes they dont. buyer beware

  • My favorite bass strings for years.
Size: 1 Style: 46-125 - Medium Light
These have been my favorite bass strings since the early 90's. Bright and clangy and very long lasting. I have recently switched to D'Addario Pro Steels as they work better on my Line 6 Variax bass which was voiced by Line 6 with D'Addario nickel roundwounds. (I don't care for the nickels once the brightness wears off which is too quickly.) These are great strings. ... show more

  • One string totally dead.
Size: 1 Style: 46-125 - Medium Light
I like the dean markley SR2000 strings they're hard to get that's why I bought what was left in stock but one pack of strings had a completely dead A string in it and I'm very upset. That's the second time I got strings from Dean Markley that were not packaged correctly, the first time I received a pack with two E strings in a five string set ( B E E D G) as opposed to ( B E A D G) so I am not happy about that!!! ... show more

  • They are great for recording and don't "over-colour" the tone
Size: 1 Style: 46-125 - Medium Light
I use these strings mostly for speed-metal. I'm not much for "gimmicks," but this tapered over the bridge is a really a must-have for me on my five-string. My thick strings feel as responsive as my thinner strings and though I seldom hold a note for long, the sustain is long and solid. They are great for recording and don't "over-colour" the tone. ... show more

  • Strings not quite as expected
Size: 1 Style: 46-125 - Medium Light
These strings feel good to the fingers. Not quite the sound result I was expected. These would be great for someone who slaps alot in their playing. So depending on how you play these may be perfect for you or they may not.
