    • Troublesome Setup, Fixed by using stock wiring
I just bought this and had a Type C Cable on my desk, I figured I'd use that to begin setup. Well, thats where things went South quickly. I after quite a bit of troubleshooting/resetting etc., I ended up plugging in the Type C cable that came with the cam and Voila, setup completed, WiFi works, Bluetooth works etc. Now, I haven't installed it in my vehicle as of yet, but I'd say, it looks pretty good, seems to be a solid Dashcam at the moment. Just updated the firmware (also something I couldn't do until switching cables). So we'll see how it goes..... ... show more

    • SD Card NOT Required; Pricey
Physical installation was easy enough and the same as my prior dashcams. It comes with electrostatic stickers, which you affix to the window, and then apply the included 3m stickers to the electrostatic stickers. I like that there is no view finder because the unit is less obtrusive as a result. It's barely there and out of the way. It also looks better with the slim profile. I also really like that there is a green light that is always lit so I know the recorder is functioning. We were recently rear ended in a hit and run and I was dismayed that my rear dashcam was not recording. I did not realize it at the time because the screen auto dimmed as always so I assumed it was recording. I vastly prefer a steady power light so I know the dashcam is working and recording. The app has some quirks I did not like. For instance, upon start up, the camera (which has voice) repeatedly instructs me to insert an SD card. This was confusing because the unit has 32 GB of built in storage. When I check the app library, it tells me no video or photos can be stored because there is no SD card inserted. Again, this was confusing because the unit has built in storage. After driving and testing, it turns out this information was not correct. The unit records and stores data using the built-in storage. DDPAI really needs to clear up this unnecessary confusion. There are help links in the app, all of which are broken links. I finally emailed support outside the app and asked about SD vs. internal storage. They responded to use an SD card if I had one, but if not, to use the internal storage. They also said the voice prompts to insert an SD card were a "normal reminder." I think this approach is flawed. The unit has internal storage which is great, so would do I need to hear multiple warnings to insert an SD card every single time I start my car? On the upside, the app is easy to connect to via my phone, and I can view my library or change the settings. Once you get past the initial confusion and app's quirks, this seems a solid, albeit pricey, forward and rear facing dashcam.     • Pretty good set up
I was worried about this dash cam because the other one I have has a display screen. Turns out, I think I like them both about the same! This one has a very straight forward app and there's no extra steps to set up. This box came with everything except and SD card so make sure you (or your friends lol) have an extra laying around. This was the second camera I was setting up in a car so I had an idea of what to expect, but the instructions were nice to have. Overall, if you're looking for a quick front and back facing camera for some extra driving protection, this is good for you! Cons: Getting the SD card in was a hassle. The spring on the inside was just too strong and wouldn't accept the card. I eventually had to get my friend with nails to push the card in and it finally took it. It also told me there was a failure with the rear camera on initial set up but that quickly went away after the update. I haven't had any problems since then. ... show more

OK, first the good. This is a really nice dash cam, and the rear cam is good too. The app takes just a little bit to get going, but once it is you are all set. The one slightly bad thing was I got in too big a hurry to get it installed, and ended up having to pull it off the glass to get it fully setup. Thankfully there is a second mounting kit. Running the rear cam cord can be tricky if you have never done anything like that in the past. I picked it into the trim holding the headliner in place and it is a clean install. Be sure you have a memory card in the unit before you install it, and I would set up the app before you attach it to the glass just to make things easier.
