The clock in the barn bit the dust so we were looking for a replacement. I much prefer an analog clock as I hate having to reset digital clocks after every power outage, and outages happen frequently here. It's also fun to watch the younger generation try to figure out what time it is on an analog! Haha! This clock was a great replacement. The numbers are crisp and easy to read even from across the room, and so far it has been keeping time perfectly. I don't mind a clock that ticks, it's nostalgic to me, but this one does not make a sound. Even though we're all habituated to digital tick tock time, in fact it's a smooth linear thing. With this clock, time is presented as it should be, smoothly and quietly. The same clock can be had for about half the price if you want it to click-click a second at a time, and you wouldn't think it would make a noticeable difference. But somehow it really does, and you almost immediately notice it. This simple clock has everything covered. Looks nice. Large enough to read from a distance. Can even see the second hand from 30 feet away (with old eyes). Our last kitchen wall clock started ticking loudly. Replaced it with a different silent clock, but it did not have any second hand, or even minute marks, so very limited in usage. We did not know how big a deal a second hand would be. It is needed. This clock solved all the issues. It is also a great size.
