  • Davis weather stations are great
Been using a Davis weather station for the past 30 years, but it finely quit working, so i replaced it with a Vantage Vue and I'm very happy with it. Was easy to set up and is working great so far like see if i can get other 30 years out of this one.

  • Accurate, good quality, but no access to your data without a monthly fee.
Lost a star because I can’t download my own data from the console, nor can I download it from the website without signing up for a monthly subscription. Very disappointed that after paying top dollar for this product they attempt to generate further recurring revenue from me by holding my data hostage. Console has some neat functions and graphs, but would rather access these on my Ipad from the comfort of my couch. But no, I can’t do that without paying a monthly fee. That said, it’s still way better in quality and accuracy than the cheap Chinese knockoff that I bought and had to return. ... show more

  • Excellent
Bought to replace Acurite unit. Easy to assemble. Had it working within 30 minutes. Actively providing data to Weather Underground and NOAA CWOP. Only downside, to be able to download your data, you have to pay for the Pro subscription. Would definitely recommend this unit. BUY FROM AMAZON, NOT DAVIS directly. Attempted to buy same exact unit from Davis directly, it cost $150 more, and even after 5 days, still had not shipped from Davis and their support had no idea why. Cancelled Davis order and bought from Amazon, cost less and received in 4 days! ... show more

  • Great Davis Product as always and excellent vendor
Superb price from the vendor and arrived ahead of when predicted. This is our second Davis system and, as to be expected, performs flawlessly. Highly recommended

  • Somewhat disappointing
I brought my older Davis Pro 2 out of storage recently in addition to my Ambient Weather station. I wanted the new console, but it was a month or so out, so bit the bullet and bought the Vue package. After a couple of weeks I decided to put the Vue up to replace the Pro 2. I've had no trouble with the console as some have reported. There are a lot of data point choices to display, but my most wanted, the daily high temperature and high wind, were not available. Both are displayed on my AW station console as you would expect. Most of the choices are of no interest, at least to me. The other issue is the wind speed is not the same as the Pro 2 was. It is consistently lower in the same location as verified by the other station next to it. The Pro 2 tracked almost as one with the AW station. However the Vue is always lower. Case in point today peak gust 29 on the AW station, only 24 on the Vue. Is this an issue just with mine, or are they all off in comparison to the Pro 2? Certainly disappointing for a station costing almost twice as much as the WS-2000 Ambient Weather station. One point deduct for the lack of desireable display options, another for the inaccurate wind speed compared to both the AW station and the Pro 2 at the same location earlier. ... show more

  • Touch screen tech like 1991
I have an older version of this with the previous version of the indoor receiver/console, and I loved it. The outdoor unit is the same and has lasted well over a decade in a high desert environment (111F to -18F). My old outdoor unit is failing, so I decided to try a new package with a touch-screen "update". My unit arrived in good condition, but it was clear early on that the touch screen console was lacking in performance and quality compared to any smartphone released since the iPhone's first version. Touch interface feels and responds like something from 30 years ago or the infuriatingly slow and imprecise gas station touch screens or decades old airport check-in touchscreens. Do not expect a modern tablet or phone level of interaction. The response time was extremely slow and would lock up often (with no response to anything for a few minutes, hard resetting to get any functionality again). Buttons on the screen are not actually buttons in most cases, but expect a swipe action, which took time to discover. The firmware was not up to date and was fundamentally different than the online manual, and without WiFi to connect to the internet, a few options that I wanted were not available (this was being installed where I don't have the option for internet access): one example being the screen could not ever be turned off with the older firmware. Many things seemed lacking in the interaction, such as when being prompted to enter lat/lon information, no hint about the expected numerical format is given. Customization is limited to only select option pairings, and overall I find the new touch-screen layout to offer less information at a glance and this requires more interaction (with that terrible touch-screen) and hassle to get to the amount of information I could get to with the old fixed layout console. I did not keep this and would preference a used console vs. the new one, but if there is no change by the time I really need a new unit, I'll go with another brand. The outdoor unit remains excellent and I'd buy another one to pair with my 14 year old indoor unit. ... show more

  • Lot of Money for Plastic
I replaced an old Vantage Pro 2 with this Vantage Vue mainly to get the new console. It was a bit shocking to see how cheaply built the Vue is for $600. That said, it was easy to mount, install and producing data. We’ll see how well it stands up to Mother Nature.
