I was expecting a half hour. I started to have ice cream in only 10 minutes. It is noisy but not annoyingly so. Much like the old ice cream makers from the 70s and 80s. I churned to soft serve ice cream texture so I was way under the estimated 30 minutes for ice cream. If you desire a firmer ice cream when you reach that 30 minute point, simply ripen in the freezer for a bit. It was how we firmed it up back in the 60s. Made a very nice amount for a single person. The mix in the booklet will make 3 servings so you need a storage container for liquids when you mix it up unless you plan on making all three that day. Note the machine will ONLY handle single servings. To get the correct amount and not have lid lifting problems, use the dry measure for a cup [the multiple size cups attached to each other is a dry measure] not the liquid measure [the cup with multiple measures on the side]. Put enough mix in the dry measure that you can walk and NOT spill it. That will prevent the lid from lifting. I haven't tried the other recipes in there yet but I will be doing so. The recipe in the booklet is for an iced cream not an iced milk [the more cream the more rich]. It's very smooth and rich. You should notice a butter feel on the lips after eating. It is not the very best ice cream out there but it's a good recipe and will be improved by a very good quality vanilla so save bargain bin vanillas for baking or other recipes where vanilla isn't the main flavor. I didn't have a whisk and used a spoon. It mixed up just fine with no graininess. Other recipes can also be used and I plan on experimenting. Note: the mix in the book is an iced cream not the iced milk that so many of us are use to. The more cream, the richer the product. There will be a buttery feel to the lips and mouth after eating it. Cleaning was an absolute snap. I used a spray on detergent, wiped, rinsed and clean. The hard part is waiting for the cup to chill again. This would work well for kids. Each has his or her own, they can then put the extract they want into a base and mix up their own flavor [no fuss about which ice cream to buy at the store]. Excellent for portion control. You aren't going back for that second dish... well... heck... maybe a third... That 24 hours chill time puts paid to that. It does what it was designed for and does it well. ... show more

I've been on a keto diet for quite some time and, darn it all, I miss ice cream. Recently, while recovering from surgery, I decided I'd probably be okay with a little treat now and again. But...yeah...I really don't want to be eating sugar, nor do I want to pay a lot of money for ice cream like stuff from the store claiming to be keto. My little Dash My Pint arrived yesterday and I opened it up, read the directions, and immediately popped the inner container into the freezer overnight. Yes, I know 24 hours is what the directions say, but I could only wait 16 hours. It worked fine. I made an ice cream mix of 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, two egg yolks, a dash of salt, a squirt of liquid stevia, and a capful of vanilla extract and set the machine off. Impatient as I am, rather than waiting the full 30 minutes, I checked after 15 minutes and deemed it soft serve enough to eat. It was delicious and just the right amount for me; one cup. I did notice, as have other folks, that as your mixture freezes at the bottom of the cup it's possible for the lid, where the motor lives, to lift off. This isn't great, so I dropped one star, but if you know it's going to happen, you can deal with it. This is not the best ice cream maker in the world by any stretch. But it does work and works very well for the price. I really don't want to have quarts of ice cream around, no matter the carb count. So, for me, this is perfect. I can make a treat when I want, but not too much. I can't report on long this appliance will last, but my experience with other Dash small appliances is that they are well made and last quite some time if you take reasonable care of them.     • A lot of fun and a lot of fail

I bought two of these to the delight of my two grandchildren. They’ve both been used less than a dozen times. They work great UNTIL the freezer container leaks coolant. We last used them 6 months ago, and the containers were in the freezer after that until my grands came to visit again. One container failed -didn’t freeze the ice cream at all, and then I noticed white “stuff” coming out the bottom in the freezer. The company sent me a new unit. Today, I looked at the other container that I’d put back in the freezer. It’s got the same white, salty stuff leaking out. I guess I will need to write to them again. They were not dropped, they were washed, dried, and according to directions, and I am extremely sad that they keep leaking. ... show more
