This is an incredible redesign from my old scramble cam. The scramble cam accompanies a back camera that can at the same time record front and back. It has an application to see and deal with your recording. You can likewise download the accounts to share or post via virtual entertainment. The GPS lumberjack can follow your driving course, area and speed while driving. The scramble cam was exceptionally simple to introduce. It took under on the verge of start to finish. I have an after market rear camera installed in a car with terrible rear visibility. It is hard wired in by a professional installer and is on full time having been wired into a factory switch I obtained and placed in a blank for it on the control panel on the dash. It has been very helpful in that vehicle. I do have two turn it off at night because the headlights it picks up and displays on my dash mounted monitor will blind me. Because of this experience I thought this Z-Edge Dash Cam would be something I would like to try in a different car. Once I unboxed it and saw what was entailed to install and use it, I regret accepting the offer. The only way I could possibly use this product is to have it professionally installed which includes hard wiring. Without hard wiring the parked vehicle surveillance is not functional, at least without some source of external power. The three charging points in my car are already in use by my Escort and phones. I don’t need my Escort when I’m parked. I am also not about to live with the cables that are required to make this system work. The benefits of this system are not worth the cost of professional installation… Done correctly. I understand that the main reason someone installs such a camera system is for video evidence in an accident or criminal attack. Parking surveillance is around half of what I perceive the benefits to be. I’ve also heard a few lawyers state that this video evidence can just as easily go against you in court if you contributed to or caused an accident. I also don’t need a computer logging my exact position and speed for every moment that I drive. I abhor the emerging surveillance society we are living in. So while I love the rear cameras I have in two of my cars, this system is for surveillance, largely of me, and not situational awareness that is a benefit to me. It’s screen is way too small to effectively replace my existing rear camera in the car with bad rear visibility. It is just not worth the cost or effort, IMHO, to install an inexpensive and unknown product that does things I don’t want, no matter how nice it looks both physically and on paper. I’m sure that many others will love it. I’d much rather get the add on camera to my Escort unit, if I want a dash cam. The star rating I’m giving is based on my perception of the product after unboxing and deciding that I do not want to use this product. My initial opinion is to go four stars based on seeing the product and understanding it’s specs. I deduct one star from that because I think the ad could’ve been more honest about the requirements of installation and the limitations of not hardwiring the camera system. ... show more

So this takes a lot to install so I haven't fully done it yet, but as far as set up, the instructions are clear and it looks easy enough to do, but will take some time that I haven't got just yet. However, the camera looks good, connections are easy, but it takes a little (and an included tool) to hide the cords so they are unseen, which is also a nice touch. I think this will be really cool when installed and I am grateful for really good instruction booklet! ... show more
