Yes, this thing is pricey, but it also tackled everything I threw at it. This thing is a tank. It handled 4-foot-tall weeds easily. The mower got bogged down a couple of times and killed the engine, but the weeds were extremely dense when that happened and that will happen with any mower. Can it handle your slope? most likely. My slope exceeded 45 degrees in some places and it tackled it. I kept pushing the limit of this thing because it easily handled everything I put it through until I tried to make it go almost completely verticle, at which point I rolled it. The roll bar is there for a reason. I flipped it over, started it up, and kept on mowing. It sipped the gas too. I mowed about 1/2 an acre of a flood control easement, down one side and up the other, and it didn't use 2 gallons of gas. It's not a speed demon, but it'll get the job done. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to the 1 star review that aren’t even verified purchaser specially them mentioning the remote being charged when you don’t even charge that because you’re using four AA battery. I used to use a rope to attach to one of my mowers to cut the grass on my slopes because my ride mower was too dangerous. This mower is also very durable with zero problem so far. I’m getting the best help from the company if I need help and they’re a phone call away. ... show more

I bought this mower to mow a steep hill side at our church. It does a great job mowing the hill but is a little slow. Also a little hard controlling the direction of the mower, it drift to either to the left or right while trying to go straight. The media could not be loaded. This makes it fun to mow! The Spyder is awesome, you get to play and work at the same time. I usually grab my chair and a beer and take care of the hill around me. It's not too noisy, it seems to climb over anything. Mows down very tall and thick weeds. More like a brush hog than a "lawn mower". I use the tracks and turning to loosen up the dirt that's uneven. I got the snow blade also, maybe I'll try the snow someday, but it works for dirt and gravel too. Rocks haven't been to bad but I did get a big one today, just a bend in the blade as expected. Don't forget to do regular maintenance and check and tighten nuts and bolts, just like any equipment. Don't wait just order it, you know you want one! ... show more

This machine is very slow and I also noticed a bolt was missing when I finished cutting the grass. It took us twice as long to cut the grass and the tracks tore our lawn. The throttle keeps moving back to low position which causes the mower to kill often. The tracks will not allow you to get close to a fence so you will have extra trimming as well. The remote does not charge automatically even though it shows a green light and uses 4 AA batteries which you need to change every 4-5 hours of use. It states 30 day returns, not true they will not accept returns through Amazon? ... show more

The only reason I'm giving this item a four star is because the charger did not come with the unit. Per the instruction book a charger is supposed to be included. When I checked my spare parts bag, the charger wasn't in it. I did receive all the other spare parts per the instruction booklet.     • Very capable slope mower. Cheap generic remote control.

Sadly, I had to return this mower. The remote control, a cheap, fragile, generic model for remote controlled toys, failed to adequately control the mower. This was a safety issue. The mower itself was good. I had a bit of difficulty pairing the remote due to the emergency stop switch being broken at delivery. A very helpful lady with customer service guided me through rewiring that switch to bypass it, but then it was also necessary to change a number of settings in the remote. Successful pairing was finally achieved on day one. On day two I mowed 30” woody grass and even 12” gamble oak that was regrowing since my last brush cutting exercise. This machine mowed with authority on rough uneven slopes of up to 60 degrees. I stalled it a couple of times, but it started right up again. The ability to move the mower under battery electric power without the engine running is a significant benefit. Operating this mower hands off is so much safer than wrestling my brush mower! I subtract one star for the broken switch and pairing difficulties, otherwise this is a five star machine. ... show more
