I have found no issues with this mat and have found it to be useful Im more ways than I originally purchased it for. Seems good quality and I feel satisfied with the price I paid for it. The measuring and angles are great for quick measuring and marking references.

Really takes a knife cut and doesnt puncture through, the grid helps a line to line up paper and also a great help with those long oversized sheets.

I like this mat for it's thin profile. I use it for heavy leather work so most of the cuts on it don't "heal" completely. But it is still useable and 10x better than a chunky cutting board. This mat is stiff but still slightly flexible and a good value. The angle markings and measurement markings seem to be accurate and are useful. ... show more

    • Best clear self healing mat - great for die cutting machines too!

I've seen several YouTube videos that said you could use a self healing mat in place of a clear acrylic plate in die cut machines. The acrylic warps over time but the self healing mat lasts much, much longer. I have tested the clear self healing mat and I'm 1000% in LOVE with them! I use this in my original Gemini electric die cutting machine and it works great! The best part is that it has barely made any dents in my cutting mat. I also use it with my Xacto knife for other craft projects so it has multiple functions. The mat is not 100% clear, a bit on the "cloudy" side - so semi-clear but you can still see through it. Do not be fooled by cheaper self healing mats being sold on Amazon. I purchased some and the quality does not come close to the Vantage self healing mats! The other mats I bought were so thin that 2 of them was equivalent to one Vantage mat! Be forewarned though - with enough pressure you *CAN* warp this self healing mat. I couldn't get an embossing folder to work properly and added way too many shims. It was too thick and when running it through the Gemini, I heard the most awful noise (more than "normal") and permanently warped my self healing mat! After wrecking 2 self healing mats, I am very careful with the amount of shims I use with my Gemini machine. ... show more

This mat is an excellent deal, but has some faults. Few in number, but pretty severe in my opinion. First off, the mat wears down my rotary blades extremely fast. VERY fast. I'm talking a blade per session of 5-6 hours. For comparison, I normally get at least 2-4 weeks of use out of my 60mm blades. Considering my blades are $2 each at the cheapest, this mat is too expensive to use all the time. The surface is slippery, and I suspect this has something do do with the fast blade wear. Fabrics will shift around on it as well. It's not too bad for most types, but sheer items are a pain. The second downside is that the mat measurements are in 1/2 blocks. While the more precise measurement is nice, a way to tell which lines are the inch lines would have been super helpful (make 1/2" lines thinner, maybe?) For me, these are the only two real drawbacks. The mat arrived slightly rolled in a big box and it rolled perfectly flat immediately. There was no overwhelming smell or anything either. Very pleased with that. For the size it is an amazing deal, but as it is it can't be used full time. This mat is half as cheap as the same size for other self healing mats, and that alone made it worth it to me. I only need to use this mat occasionally, so it works out great. For full time use, I wouldn't recommend this mat and would instead say you should spend the extra for a better one. Overall, for $44, this was a great purchase and I still give it 5/5 stars. ... show more
