Under Falling Skies is a solo game with a multi-mission campaign and gradually revealed content. In each mission, you take charge of defending a besieged city. Your actions are powered by an innovative dice placement mechanic. When you choose an action, you are also choosing which enemy ships will descend. Bigger numbers give better effects, but they also cause ships to descend faster.

  • Great Solo game
Great Solo board game! Medium sized play area, a little longer than most but enough for a table. I have played it on a slant to easily move pieces while sitting down. Easy to learn, replay value is high, transportable. Great colors, art and minis

  • A great solo game, and very replayable
Very impressed. The dice allocation is very clever, with tradeoffs and hard choices all over the place. The mandatory reroll is such a simple but amazing mechanism; you're taking some chances, but when? There's a little luck to keep it interesting, but it's nearly all input luck (that is, your set of available options is random, but how you apply them is deterministic), so you rarely feel totally out of control. The value proposition is really high. There's a ton of content. I learned the game (3 games) then finished the campaign (9 games) and probably saw 40% of the content. But every game will be different based on the scenario, the city, the sky tiles, and the characters, each of which is well thought out and requires a different way of thinking. Let alone the dice, where even replaying the same setup can differ quite a bit. So I don't get the (minor) complaints about replayability. Also, keep the packing frames, as you can reassemble the game and "gift" it to someone else if you tire of it, or replay the campaign almost like the initial unboxing. Also, you can use the frames to keep the map steadier when you play, as they can shift and get a little messy otherwise (depending mostly on the slickness of your table surface). ... show more

  • Amazing Quality And terrific design but doesn’t add enough variety
This game is great. So clever in how it works and you are truly getting SOOOOO much content in this box. I really did enjoy this game while I had it but as I’ve found is the case with plenty of solo games for me: it became very repetitive and I didn’t have the urge to play it anymore. It’s very fun and puzzly and it could just be me not really being much of a solo gamer but it got old. I would highly recommend this game for anyone interested that already knows they enjoy coming back again and again for a 30-40 minute very puzzly game that adds very cool variety with its campaign but is in essence the same puzzle on repeat ... show more

  • Solitaire Space Invaders Board Game
This is a great solitaire game that pits you against alien invaders in a plot that mimics the old Space Invaders 8-bit video games. So much replayability, especially when you get into the campaign that is included. Variable difficulty levels, different cities to defend, and the randomness of the dice all make it a different game each time. ... show more

  • Extremely tight, well-balanced game with TONS of decision making
As the title says, this is a game that will have you pulling out tight wins on maps that feel well thought-out and played with campaign modifiers that mesh together amazingly well. The campaign design is clever, and "repayable campaign" would be an understatement that doesn't truly explain that the campaign is literally built to make you want to replay it. Worth every penny. If you enjoy strategic solo games, don't give it a second thought -- buy this. ... show more
