  • Terrible customer service, won't stand behind product.
Size: 350VA Style: UPS
I rarely write Amazon reviews, but in this case I was totally disgusted by the lack of customer service for existing customers. Although cyberpower UPS units are cheaper in general than APC, I've found that cyberpower will not stand behind their products. When the battery went dead on this unit I removed it and tried to find a replacement, only to find they are priced around 2/3 or more of buying a whole new unit. When I emailed cyberpower about this I got a reply from tech support saying this wasn't a "user-serviceable" battery. I then asked if they had a pro-rated replacement for existing customers. The reply I got was very dismissive and basically ended with the equivalent of "tough luck". Following is the last reply from them: "The unit has a torx security screw holding the compartment in place. Some users have discovered what size torx head this uses and have been able to upgrade their own batteries, but unfortunately, I am unable to assist with that. Unfortunately, we do not have any sort of upgrade program. Thanks, and have a great day!" Yeah, thanks a lot. I tried this UPS because it was cheaper, but I don't feel it's worth it if you have to buy a new one when the battery dies. I'll go back to buying APC units, since I've never had a problem getting a reasonably priced replacement battery. Buy at your own risk. ... show more

  • Worst thing I ever bought from Amazon.
Size: 350VA Style: UPS
Do NOT buy this. The poor reviews are accurate. Believe them. This power supply is defective RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. I charged it for over eight hours and followed all instructions. When I plugged my computer into it, it immediately switched to battery and started screaming like a banshee in Hell. It would not stop. No amount of button pushing could make it stop. I finally unplugged it. it still did not stop until I shut off the battery power. This is the worst thing that I have ever bought from Amazon. ... show more

  • Fantastically small unit but very high failure rate.
Size: 350VA Style: UPS
I love these things because of the small size. The smallest battery backup we have been able to find and we need small units for some of our remote installations to provide momentary backup power for a couple of cameras and wireless equipment. That being said, we have had a very high failure rate, especially with the more recent units. In total we have put 25 of these in the field and the failure rate has been worse with the more recent units. The last one we installed died after less than a week! The units go dead and will not turn back on. Could be a defective battery or could be something even worse but we are not sending these failed units in for repair or replacement because we really don't want to get a bunch of replacement units back that will have the same issue. These are used in remote locations so we have learned the hard way not to use use components that have shown a record of premature failure. Love the size... hate the failure rate. ... show more

  • Some battery information
Size: 425VA Style: UPS
I'm mainly posting to share battery information. I bought this UPS in 2011, the battery failed within the warranty period and they replaced it no-hassle. The battery died again recently, and like others I discovered that the battery, a CPS3.6-12, was an odd half-height battery that was hard to find at a decent price. (Some online stores have the equivalent SHR3.6-12, but at close to the price for a new UPS.) I bought a PS1230 at the local battery store for much less, and used a dremel to cut off a plastic piece in the main compartment (the one that holds the old battery in place and separates it from all the empty space) and one on the top part (a piece that pushes down on the side of the old battery from above). The PS1230 now fits perfectly in the compartment, and is held snugly in place when the unit is reassembled. Everything seems to be working OK, though I haven't retested the power failure mode yet. If you have one of these, need a new battery, and have a tool for cutting plastic in an enclosed space (probably a box cutter would have worked, given time), this is doable. Anyone looking to buy a new UPS, I suggest APC, who make battery replacement much easier. ... show more

  • DOA...A waste of effort and time
Size: 350VA Style: UPS
Crashed the first time I had it plugged into my desktop. Charged 8 hrs as per instructions, plugged into outlet and turned "on", plugged computer into "Surge+Battery" receptacle, and 5 seconds into bootup it failed. Attempted twice more, same result. To make matters worse, I tested the voltage of my unit on battery and got 90 volts. Amazon refunded my money, thank you, but didn't want it shipped back. Very disappointed, will not buy again, and can't recommend. ... show more

  • Keeps me connected
Size: 350VA Style: UPS
Long power outages (5 to 13 hours) happen where I live as often as twice a month, and since we're in a dead zone for cell coverage we have to use wireless at home, so without power I don't even have a phone connection. This UPS is just right for keeping my cable modem, wired/wireless network and VOIP phone working during a long power outage. It's the kind of thing where there's not a lot to say about it. Either it works when you need it, or not. This works. ... show more
