I love CurlSmith’s protein treatment, so I tried this — I couldn’t handle the strong fragrance. To be fair, I tend to be a bit sensitive to fragrances, but I can handle most products. This one was a bit too much, so if you are sensitive at all to smells, I’d go for a different product.

I’ve been a ouidad cultist since forever - found it when I moved here to Florida because it was either pin my hair up or look electrified after 10 minutes outside in summer. Ouidad is my anti frizz holy grail. So I was skeptical of all this hype for curlsmith. I have long, thick curly hair. I went totally overboard in how much product I used the first time took forever to blow dry but let me say this product does the job in Florida July humidity. I carefully pin my hair up at night (and use satin pillowcases) so I can keep the curls intact for a few days & it still looked fresh the next day- in the same heat/humidity. Expensive? Yes. But so is ouidad. However I felt like this had a stronger hold/barrier in the humidity in the initial few days than ouidad. Hair looked good for over 3 days- still fresh/no frizz. I would definitely use this in the summer months & alternate with ouidad in the gentler humidity. ... show more

This is a great in shower hair gel. For somebody like me who has a lot of thin, flyaway hair I found that this really helps when allowing my hair to air dry. The only downside is that I think that this formula is extremely drying to my hair, so when I wash and shampoo, I make sure to use extra conditioner. ... show more

I gave four stars only because I don’t like the way it feels on my hair when it’s dry. However! It has worked miracles and brought the natural curls back to my hair like no other product has. I’ve been color treating my hair for some time now, which has damaged my curls. But, this in shower treatment has brought them back! I love the curlsmith line and I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this product because it feels really thick and sticky but I LOVE it! I have very curly 3c hair, which is prone to frizz. My wash and go never lasts to a second day because it gets frizzy and puffy. This product made my curls so defined and very minimal frizz, and my hair was still looking fresh the entire next day. It doesn’t feel hard on my hair but I can tell there is a thicker product on it. With this product My hair looks great. It holds and encourages curl, doesn’t flake and had an invisible look. unfortunately my hair feels horrible to the touch. It feels coated with a dry film. I do break the cast but still this film remains. I’ve tried varying amounts and methods, with and without curl cream or foam and still the same results. I can usually only stand 2 days with this in my hair. By day 2 my hair feels super dry and like straw but still kinda looks great with volume and definition. I think I just need a lighter product ... show more
