The Cuisinart Perfect Position Propane Patio Heater is an overhead heater like no other! Unlike standard upright heaters, it has a swivel design which directs the heat where you need it most; from left to right, it has your patio covered. The extra-large 33” heat shield and cone shaped burner unit helps direct the heat downward and outward, maximizing the 38,200 BTUs. This heater comes ready to use right out of the box with a 50 lb. sand filled wheeled base. The enclosed base hides a 20 lb. propane tank, and has easy access to turn the gas on and off. This heater is rated high in several review sites that compare similar heaters so I thought I would give it a chance. Reviews here in Amazon noted how hard assemply is. I'm not a mechanic or anything like that. I can use tools and build things but I am in no way a expert mechanic. There are a lot of nuts and bolts, but its all fairly cut and dry. The instructions were appropriate and easy to understand. The nuts and bolts are clearly marked in the packaging and coorespond to the instructions. The gas line from the top of the heater going done the piping was super easy. I'm not sure why ppl have sonkch trouble with it. I slid the line until it comes out and used the Allen key to help pull it out. In all, it may have taken an hour to include unpacking it. It works wonderfully on our dock. On high, its almost too hot. We wanted this for our early morning coffees over the water before work and it doesn't disappoint. I high recommend this gas heater. ... show more

We really like how the heater head can be over a table and not standing off to the side. This is not a lightweight cheap heater. With the weighted base, it is very stable. I've read comments about assembly time and the number parts. There are a lot of fasteners for sure. Just the cap on top is an assembly of 9 pieces and 15 fasteners. It took me about 90 minutes to complete the assembly but I'm a master mechanic and very adept at this sort of thing. It's not difficult if you lay out all the pieces in wide area, have a few tools, and have some patience. I've read in reviews comments about how difficult it is to feed the gas hose through the arm. The easiest thing to do is remove the black rubber grommet from the hole in the arm first, then pass the hose through. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the hose fitting if your fingers can't grab it. Then put a little soap on the grommet to make it slippery, slide it over the hose and insert back into the hole from which it came from. Easy! Hoping it lasts a long time! ... show more

I just spent 4 hours putting this together, if i was not mechanically inclined and did not posses some basic common sense, it would have been impossible to put it together. i just finished the set up and have not had a chance to see it's functionallity, but it did turn on easy and swivell head makes it more useful ( i think ) it remains to be seen ... show more

So far (just lit it once) it seems like a fantastic patio heater. Assembly is quite a project, with some steps being exceptionally challenging. Don't try it if you're not very good at putting things together. Once it is assembled, it is a large, nice, unusual patio heater with capabilities you don't find on others. This took me and my son about 3 hours to put together. Lots of pieces, the base has sand in it to hold it and that was fantastic. The door that holds the propane isn’t my favorite. Putting the hose through the elbow was extremely challenging and took a long time. Has to use a metal hanger to get it though. Overall the product is fantastic and works great! ... show more

The heater is perfect for our patio at the coast. Easy to assemble, very warm, and wb nice to use on cool evenings. Wheels were damaged when it arrived, but they replaced them quickly with no issues.
