I ordered the following Tarp: "CSMEN Black Small tarps Waterproof 6x6ft,Plastic Outdoor tarps Cover 8mil Thickness for rain," and I am pretty sure that is what I got. When I click on the listing it takes me to tarps by the same brand, but they are different sizes and are listed as 11 mil. So, please check the listing to make sure this review matches the tarp you are considering. Usually, I get my tarps from the local hardware store. The are typically 5 mil. I use them run the bed of my truck to make it easier to pull loads of yard debris or rocks out of the truck. I can destroy a tarp pretty quickly. This tarp is definitely thicker than the the hardware store versions, and will last a bit longer. The corners are reinforced with rubber, and the grommets are pretty standard. I ordered and received a six by six 8 mil tarp. The list price of ten bucks was about what it should be. If I need a tarp of this size again, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this again. ... show more

I have used what seems like a couple hundred tarps over the years; mostly the cheapie blue ones that are 4 mil thick. If the product you are protecting does not have sharp edges or corners (that could abrade and poke thru the tarp material), then even the cheap blue tarp material will hold up pretty well. The real test is the strength at the edges. When I received my CSMEN tarp, it was advertised as 9 mil thick, but now I see the ad is showing 10 mil. I am proceeding on the assumption that I am reviewing a 9 mil CSMEN tarp. I measured this CSMEN 9 mil tarp against the same 9 mil tarp sold at the big box freight salvage company. The material, by visual exam and touch, seem equivalent. There is a slight advantage to the CSMEN tarp in that the edges are glued about 2" wide at the overlap. The big box tarp is about 1-3/4". To me, this is basically negligible. The grommets are equivalent, as is the heavy gauge plastic reinforcements around those grommets. In the end, it really comes down to price as a one-to-one comparison. The big box tarp has the edge in price, but you do have to drive to the store to pick it up at that price. As a "delivered to your door" product, the CSMEN tarp wins in price. ... show more

I got this for general 'tarp' use. It's a good size at 6 x 6 feet. Most general use tarps are the 10 feet or 12 feet size, which are just too large to use for most normal jobs. This one also feels pretty sturdy, but we'll have to see how it holds up. The last two tarps I bought were kept outside for most of their lives, and both LITERALLY disintegrated from the sun exposure. Since this one is black, I'm using it to help kill weeds in my yard, so we'll see how it holds up to being in the sun for a few weeks. ... show more

I live in the Caribbean and the sun here tends to turn tarps brittle right away. I guess that the fact I order the white one helps a lot too. It does not get hot while int he sun. The previous one I had (from another brand and of Brown color) would be hot to the touch during the day and therefore heat up what's underneath it. I like that this tarp was a rope for reinforcement along the ends of the tarp. All four sides have it and I only found one side with the messed up eye and hook placement on the tarp. I used this over an old dresser that I put my garden tools and accessories in. It’s decently big and hasn’t tore near the ends of the dresser. I love it. ... show more

I got it to use in the back of my SUV when I use it to carry materials like potting soil so that my SUV doesn't get dirty. I would consider this a medium strength tarp, not a heavy duty one, but it serves my purpose. Do shake it out outside before using, as there are loose fibers from the manufacturing process and you don't want that all over your floor or car. ... show more
