Description

A 3-in-1 deck allows you to discharge, mulch to help put nutrients back in your soil for a healthy lawn, or use the 2.5 bushel Dust Blocker bag for easy clean up or composting while reducing in-air dust and debris. This Craftsman mower is simply awesome! I can't say enough about the 4-wheel driver capability that this mower has. My back yard has a 40-degree incline and this to me is where this mower really shine. My old mower was a front wheel drive and when cutting on the hill horizontally the rear of the mower would slide downward. Now with my new Craftsman 21" 196cc mower, sliding down the hill is over due to the 4-wheel drive and big power. When I'm not cutting on a hill, I mostly use this mower with the rear-wheel drive. I also have used it in tall grass and the 196cc power didn't disappoint. It did not boggy! This mower is very sturdy and heavy! I love the capability of 4 wheel drive. Also the flexibility of selecting which wheels drive also. I just the smaller front wheel drive for close quarters areas, it we works perfect for finer control. I have never used it at full speed I can't keep up with it. Parts of my yard is very hilly, also with pot holes, and it powers through all of it with ease. The included side discharge chute is also a nice capability too! Only used 4 or 5 times, still new. Fourth Craftsman I've now owned and the best. It is a lot heavier than any of the others but I truly never push it. Have a very hilly yard and the rear wheel drive takes all hills with ease and moves FAST. The front wheel drive moves very slowly only on flat ground. Don't know if that's normal or not, but I never liked my previous front wheel only drive so it's OK. It came mostly assembled. The only thing I had a problem with was getting the bagger on the frame. Unlike my previous mowers when filling with gas it gets an air bubble trapped if poured too quickly and can overflow, so pour slowly. It usually starts on the first try and very easy to pull the cord. I really like the "plug" that fits in the rear bagger chute when mulching, keeps from having to clean grass off the door. The hose connection to clean under the deck isn't perfect, maybe I need to let the water and mower run longer. I'm a 72 year old woman with a bad knee and had to hire someone last year to mow the yard. Just couldn't push my old mower up hills any more. I'm grateful that this mower allows me to again mow my own grass and, after just a few months of not hiring someone, will pay for itself. ... show more

After two months of ownership and four cuts, the spring loaded rod keeping the bag attachment door shut comes apart with each session. So now the back flap will barely stay shut. Since this picture was taken, the rod that holds this all together is lost in the yard.

I bought this lawnmower because my last one died last year after many years of noble service. I hadn’t cut my grass from August of 2022 to late April of 2023. Over those months, my grass grew quite a bit. This new lawnmower was easy to assemble, it started after the first pull, and it was a smooth experience. I highly recommend this mower. This All Wheel Drive is amazingly powerful. I have a steep hill and it helps pull me up the hill as it mows. First I opened one end of the box then pulled it toward me out of the box.. It took about 5 minutes to assemble it. (so easy). It comes with the oil required. I added my gas and the first easy pull of the Pull-Cord it was running. My review is based only on Craftsman throwing a mower in a box and shipping it. No fuel cap on or in the box. I don't know what else was missing or broken. I do know that by the time it travels back the 1k miles where is shipped from it wont be be in a box. Sold and shipped by Amazon. But probably delivered from Craftsman to Amazon just like that.
