I really wanted to be able to use my half gallon mason jars as pitchers for mixed drinks but was a bit skeptical that a screw-on plastic top would be sturdy enough to support the weight of a full half gallon jar of liquid. Well let me tell you, these are incredibly sturdy, feel completely stable when screwed onto the jar, and are very comfortable to hold and pour. They also are very leakproof—I’ve discovered that I have no qualms about holding the lid closed with my thumb and vigorously shaking up whatever drink I mixed inside the jar with no fear of droplets leaking out. First of all it’s glass and has good threads and feels sturdy. Great for smaller batches of tea since fits in fridge door. Pours beautifully and no leaks. Opening big enough to get hand in to clean. Have poured hot water in cold pitcher with no worry of cracking. Even washes well in dishwasher without warping.     • Great Jar, But Don't Order RED

I expect high quality goods when I order from this company and am willing to pay a little bit more. The jar is fine, and it will handle hot liquids as many Ball and Mason jars will, if one just avoids the common mistake of filling these jars too quickly! In other words, start with only an ounce or two max, and let the glass expand slowly. Then add the rest of the hot water. I haven't lost a jar to boiling water for decades. However, I would recommend NOT ordering the RED lidded jar* (*Why Amazon says I order the gray colored lid above is beyond me, as ordered red and received red) if you care about leaks. The cap that goes into the spout is way too loose, so if you turn the bottle upside down or even just tilt a full jar, you will lose some of the contents. Of course I have no idea whether this is a defect in all their lids or just the red ones. The jar with this lid is still useful to me, I just always have to be careful. 🤔 The day I spill something will be the day I order replacement lids! Ha, might as well order some now as it won't take me long to screw up. 😜 ... show more
