This is a great concept, sometimes it's very difficult to route an extension cord to where you need the heat gun, enter this cordless unit to save the day. Obviously if you have easy access to corded power, the conventional heat gun is going to be more useful all-around, but just having the cordless as an option now is a bit of a game-changer. I like that it uses a known name-brand battery for the power source, even if it doesn't come included, which is actually pretty smart. Plenty of accessories included. The digital readout is useful also, my old corded gun doesn't even have one. Overall very happy and I recommend the variable temperature version for more precision and control for a few bucks extra. ... show more

I think a lot of the reviews here are very polarizing. I paid $25 for this, and the reviews match what the milwaukee branded one costing 4x that are. Its not amazing, and can't match a plug-in heat gun, but that seems very reasonable given the current limitations of a battery. Accept what it is and isn't, and you'll be happy. ... show more

So this does get hot (temperature) but doesn't have much heat due to low air flow. It's not like a plug in heat gun, even a cheap Harbor Freight model. I tried to use it to fuse some "Waterproof Repair Tape for Fabric, Awning" to a tarp. I gave up and used the plug in heat gun as this just didn't have the heat output or air flow. If you needed to heat something small like some shrink tubing, it would probably be very good for that. But I doubt that it would even have the heat to dry one's hair, although with a hot temp you may wind up with some small burns if you didn't move it around quickly. (Don't try to dry your hair with this.) To give it a chance, I used two different Milwaukee 5 Amp hour batteries. Both worked the same, which is not very well with low heat output. The tool itself appears to be of decent quality, usable controls, good looking; just doesn't have much heat, and that is the primary function of a heat gun. Likely batteries just don't have sufficient energy capacity for a heat gun. I haven't actually done the calculations or done a longevity test so this is guess work on my part. Unless you are OK with low air volume and not much heat, I'd have to say pass on this. ... show more

I really like the ease of use of this heat gun. The best feature is the capability with multiple Milwaukee battery powers. I used it to bend thin metal for an art project (I used the focused tip - it comes with 4 different tips) and it heated fast, maintained required temperature, and easy to maneuver. It does burn through battery life but I have a couple on hand, and it was not an easy to easily switch out and keep working. I have not tested the other tips - but works great and very happy with the quality. ... show more
