  • Great value kit
Comparing this to the Alesis Nitro Mesh I had prior. Starters, the module is much better and produces actual drum sounds unlike the Alesis which sounds like a toy drum kit for kids. It comes preloaded with a bunch of different kits recorded directly from studio drums such as acoustic, rock, jazz, fly, metal and you can make your own as well, just messing around I found around 30-40 different “voices” for each kit piece so there are many possible ways to make this kit sound if you so choose, I just use the acoustic pre set as it sounds really good for just about anything you’re playing. The module supports midi and usb so I’ve got mine connected to a laptop to record and also play Clone Hero’s which syncs up no issues. There is also aux in and headphone out and dual channel aux output for amps and what not. My only complaint is there is no blue tooth option which is not a huge miss since this is a more basic module and you get what you pay for, the aux in makes up for this. The stand is heaps better than the Alesis, more durable, easier to set up and collapse, adjusts easy with the included tool and doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall apart the moment you start smashing on the drums. The drums themselves are good, the mesh heads seem pretty durable and have a nice rebound effect similar to an actual drum head. I use nylon tipped and adorn wood tip sticks and they work good for these. The cymbals are dual zone and also will mute when grabbing the edge. Snare has ability to rim hit as well which is good for a lot of Gospel music which I play. The kick is nice, attaches to stand so it’s not moving around on you, my complaint with the kick is the actual pedal and chain are a bit flimsy, the pedal rocks from side to side a bit which doesn’t effect the drum but it’s slightly annoying just the way it feels really sloppy and it started squeaking as well which is annoying. Overall in my opinion this is a great value for the cost. The nitro mesh is around the same price or more and is inferior in pretty much all ways. This is a nice kit to get started on or even if you need something that doesn’t take up a lot of space, this is very compact. It came with a drum throne which is kinda cheap I don’t use it. Came with USB A for connecting to PC, a set of headphones with sound alright but are very uncomfortable to wear. Sticks it came with are just a generic set of 5As good if you don’t have any yet. ... show more

  • We like it.
I bought this for my 13 year old daughter who started learning how to play drums. I don't have any experience with drums. Please keep that in mind while reading this review. We had a chance to compare this set with a friend's Alesis Nitro mesh set. Here are a few things we noted. 1. The mesh on the DD8 drums felt much nicer than the one on the Nitro. Both for feel and response. 2. The 10" snare , vs 8", and the 12" cymbals are much easier to hit for a beginner. 3. The kickdrum on the nitro is loud, the physical impact sound, probably because of the rubber pad. the DD8 kickdrum impact is more muted and left nicer. 4. The DD8 frame is thicker and felt more sturdy. 5. The module on the Nitro seems to have more features and more kits. However, we liked the "Acoustic" kit on the DD8 more than any of the kits on the nitro and that is probably the only one my daughter will be using since she feels that it the closet to the acoustic drums she uses for her lessons. 6. The tom drums say they are dual triggered but the cables to the module are "mono" . So, the module treats them as single. To be fair, the description doesn't claim dual zone toms. The Box did have instructions sheet and it was pretty easy to assemble. Out of the box, the mesh on one of the drums was very lose. It was pretty simple to tighten it . We haven't used the throne or the headphones or a lot of features of the module yet. Overall we like this set a lot. Hoping it will last a while without issues. ... show more

  • Great set for the price
Amazing introductory set. Good quality. Biggest plus for me is that it is foldable. May not be a well known name brand, but does what the others can. LOVE IT

  • this is not a cheap electronic kit by any means
Don’t be fooled by the price, this a nice little drum kit.I gave my massive drum set away to my grandkids. I got the urge to play again so, I decided to give this set a try and I’m guile happy with my dession.

  • Pretty good for entry level
Drum stool has already bent and on the verge of breaking.

  • It's really good.
A few things to consider... The frame is solid with dual bolt fasteners The snare is a 10 inch The kick drum is a 10 inch and most importantly is attached (supported) to the frame. Why doesn't any other brand do this?? The sound is incredible but I suggest configuring your own custom kit to get the best collection of sounds to better meet your needs. It's easy to do in a couple of minutes. The throne stool is ok to get started, but plan on buying a better one. The seller should stop packaging junk accessories and keep the price lower. The control panel does the job and allows you to connect a music source to hear the music and the drums through the headphones at the same time. ... show more
