  • Unit only puts out +/- 12 VDC and 5 VDC
This was my mistake, unit works just fine and does as advertised. In the description, it stated, I thought, output up to +/- 15 Volts. I was wrong. It only puts out +/- 12. Again, my error, not the unit. I also thought there would be an adjustment to vary the voltage...no adjustments of any type. I'll have to look again and come up with a unit that will output +/- 13.5 Volts. I'm going to update the power supply on my FeelTech 6800 signal meter. The SMPS is just a bit too noisy for me. ... show more

  • This duel supply works very well.
The absolute voltage of the plus and minus supply is almost exactly the same. I still need to do more testing, but this is the only supply that I found that will do the job correctly.

  • Mixed bag
This +/-12v converter is a mixed bag of good and bad. The + and - 12v supplies are pretty well matched. However the noise and ripple from this are horrible. You have to filter the output. Also there is very little bulk capacitance on the outputs. For my use, I put a 220uF on the input (soldered to the bottom of the pcb). On each of the outputs, a 470uF in parallel with a .47 and a .1uF ceramic. Though you can get away with a lot for filtering. I tried a couple of combos and they all worked relatively well. One thing to note, on the input there is a 35v cap. They said up to 36v for some reason. For safety sake, 30v or less. The soldering on some of the components, especially the inductors, tantalum caps, diodes and the TPS ic was skimpy. I desoldered them all just to be on the safe side. Some of the joints looked a little dry. On my particular unit, the output voltage is a bit high, around +/- 12.35v. The turn on speed and overshoot isn't horrible. The higher the input voltage the faster the turn on. Overall this does work well, you just need to do some work. ... show more
