I have an old car stereo amplifier that I was playing around with in my garage. I hooked it up with some speakers and a sub then powered it with an old 12VDC 2A adapter that used an EI transformer. It worked but the output was kinda weak, it needed more current. So I got a Me*n W*ll smps adapter with higher current. That was pretty bad, you can hear the switching freq. bleed into the audio. So finally I got this one. I was hesitant as first, fearing that the switching freq. is within audible range. Anyway, my worries were quelled after I hooked it up. It was as quiet as the old EI transformer adapter that I was using, but with more current to really bring the amp to life. The switching freq. is probably above the audible range or they have excellent output filtering, or both. ... show more

My external drive died... so I thought. I then noticed the light on the power supply to the external drive wasn't lit. I got this power supply, and thank-goodness, it is exactly what I needed. It was the original power supply that died. The total length of the cord isn't very long. I have the external drive on the 2 shelf of the printer stand, and the surge protector is sitting on the floor. I ordered three of these to power light strips off some dig unos and the only problem I encountered was one of the barrel adapters that comes with them wouldn’t work. I ordered a replacement from another company and it worked fine. All three run every evening for a few hours and are still going strong after 4 months. ... show more

This 12 Volt 6 Amp power supply is well constructed. All CE and FCC certifications needed for safe operation in your home are listed on the device (this is not something to assume). The AC cord has a large gauge rubber surround with a 3-Pin grounded plug. The output line to the DC plug includes an inductor type high frequency line noise filter (see the cylindrical device on the attached photo of the 12 volt DC plug photo) . The LED "ON" indicator is a great way to remind you that your system has power, or if it is not security related, to unplug it while away for extended times if you care to.
