  • Great Stairs
Size: Drop In Step Color: Warm Grey/Grey Treads
We are very pleased with these stairs. They are easy to put together & are sturdy. I read many of the poor reviews of these before I bought them but I just don’t see the same issues that were stated. Yes the rails will move due to the being plastic but by no means are they flimsy. We don’t try to hang off of them or let kids try to swing off the rails. The steps are wide and very easy to walk on. They are great for kids and older adults. ... show more

  • So happy with my purchase! Comfortable, sturdy, and reasonably priced!
Size: Drop In Step Color: Warm Grey/Grey Treads
I'M SO HAPPY WITH THESE POOL STAIRS! We purchased these steps in the beginning of the season for our 24' round above ground pool, but I wanted to wait until we had to take them out of the pool to give a full review. We had to switch out our a-frame ladder for different steps because this summer we built a deck off the back of our pool. Also, we have a dog and thought these would help him to get in and out of the pool easily. The shipping was super fast and the instructions were clear and easy. They are sturdy, look nice, and the price is reasonable. I read each and every review here beforehand and used some of the suggestions, which I will point out. Filling them up with the recommended amount of sand was not hard at all, but it did leak out a little upon placement in the pool. Not a lot, but it's worth mentioning. Even after filling with the sand and water, the steps still floated a bit. We decided to take some gravel and fill the 2 bottom pieces (2 bases) where the sides connect. We also used some silicone caulk around the openings of those bottom pieces. We didn't purchase a pool mat, but instead purchased a $10 yoga mat to protect the liner. The mat didn't want to stay down, so we cut 2 long strips for the bottom of each side and zip-tied them on. (We tried to caulk them to the bottom of each side, but the caulk didn't hold all season long.) Lastly, we used more screws to attach to the deck than they provided. They give you plenty of holes, but only a few screws for that part. It really helped strengthen the railing. We did need to build a little step up from the deck to the top of the Confer stairs because we built our deck to go right under the top rail of the pool. Also, the stairs didn't sit back far enough to the pool wall because we have a larger cove at the bottom than most I guess. We needed to move them away from the pool wall so they would sit flat, and that required more of a platform on the deck. I wish I could get my pool vacuum behind the steps, so it gets a little dirty back there. (That's really my only complaint!!) As far as removal for winter, I was in the pool pushing up on them, while my husband and 13 year old were pulling them up onto the deck. I was afraid it would be terribly heavy with all that sand, water, and the gravel we put in the bases. It wasn't bad at all! All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend them to anyone! ... show more

  • Great steps!
Size: Drop In Step Color: Warm Grey/Grey Treads
These pool steps were super easy to put together and a lot more sturdy than the expensive stairs I got at my local pool store. They look great, and hopefully they last longer than my last ones.

  • GREAT steps-Be Prepared to TWEAK to make them work! Read this for what other hints didn't tell you.
Size: Drop In Step Color: White/Blue Treads
We cautiously ordered these steps to attach to our deck. We are Seniors and climbing the steep ladder (that too was a Confer that worked well with no issues) to get in and out of pool was getting difficult. These steps solved that issue and make it very easy to get in and out of pool now. As others have said the box arrived all busted up with tons of plastic tape on it having been taped back together several times, when we moved the box the ladder parts were falling out of the box. We inspected the contents carefully and didn't see any damage however one of the side supports has a crack that we didn't see until we assembled it. We hope it does not affect the integrity or strength of the steps. Be prepared to spend some time adjusting these stairs to make them work for your pool. We followed the feedback closely and used the pvc tubes with quick set concrete inside to weigh them down. There are adjustments we had to make to that are not included in the instructions of others. First and foremost after you've made these weights and zip tie them to the steps do NOT expect the steps to stay in place, they are still going to appear to float a little bit until you attach them to the deck which helps keep them in place and really stabilizes the weights. We also had to had two six inch blocks of wood to sit the deck supports on before attaching them as we had to mount them over the dck rail a very easy fix which holds the ladder very steady in place for us. We ordered the White with blue steps-these are SOLID sided there are no flow through holes between the downward supports. So in order to zip tie to the steps you must put your weights on the outside of the steps and drill holes through the sides to attach the zip ties to hold the weights in place. After several installation attempts we also had to drill several more holes in the side panels to help it fill with water faster. Take note Confer put more holes in the hollow sections! You will need a mat under this ladder and it will need to be larger than the 36" x 36" side we ordered as that size will not put be large enough to put the weights on when you attach them. Other complaints were that the hand rails were flimsy-while they aren't the most stable they could be adults will have no problem using them if used correctly for balance when climbing the steps, they won't support a lot of weight but these steps aren't steep (we have knee and shoulder problems and the handrails work well for us) Confer could easily fix the handrails if they would make the hand rails from the same material they make the side of the steps from, or by adding one or two more upright supports to the hand rails. I would NEVER attempt to fill this ladder with sand or pea gravel as the suggested by the company, that would make these steps impossible to remove from pool when winterizing. if you are not prepared to make the concrete fill pvc weights do NOT order this ladder. After taking our ladder in and out of the pool several times to adjust the placement of the weights and drill more holes we realized getting this ladder in and out of the pool isn't the easiest thing to do as you must be cautious not to damage the hand rails as they could probably easily break off if pulled from the sides. This is a GREAT set of steps very sturdy and wide enough to sit on in the pool and wide enough to turn around when going up and down the steps. I just wish Confer would address the weight issues, the hand rail issues and charge a little more if need be. All in all THIS is the BEST option for Steps for your above ground pool especially if you are attaching them to a deck. ... show more

  • Sturdy steps easy to put together
Size: Drop In Step Color: Warm Grey/Grey Treads
Easy to install, very sturdy and excellent price compared to local pool stores. We put sand inside the hand rail holes (40lbs 10lb per hole) and it held down perfectly in pool.

  • Easy to assemble. Sturdy and secure
Size: Drop In Step Color: Warm Grey/Grey Treads
Easy to assemble. We added sandbox sand (about 45 lbs) to it. Once it was in the pool we tilted the ladder to get the trapped air out. We then filled the uprights with water using the garden house. The straps were attached to our wooden deck. Solid and safe for children and seniors. Recommend

  • Not to bad. Very impressed
Size: Drop In Step Color: Warm Grey/Grey Treads
I used almost 50 pounds of quick Crete in the steps. Vibrated and shook and moved the steps all around. Just make sure not to go past the holder for the handles. Did not float. Added to heavy duty shower mats with suction cups for it to seat on from walmart. Works great and I am a big boy. Lol.
