Description

Based on the 29 LTD Classic platform, the 29 LX features a modern aesthetic design with a selectable LCD color display in red, green, blue, or amber. The display also has customizable night and day settings to enhance readability in both very bright and very dark conditions. Cobra's latest CB Radio features a new clock/timer that enables drivers to track their on-time driving hours and also functions as an alarm clock. The new weather receiver with scan automatically advances to the next clear channel when driving cross-country, ensuring the driver is always getting the latest weather alerts and warnings. Also new: the industry's first and only Radio Check Diagnostic. Now users can monitor the radio's RF output, SWR setting, and vehicle battery voltage. The 29 LX also includes all 40 channel scan and memory channel programming, instant channel 9 and 19, audible key tones, channel frequency readout for CB and weather channels, 4 watts AM RF power output, and Talk Back controls.. The 29 LX provides instant access to 10 National Weather Channels, 24 hours a day, in all 50 states. The Emergency Weather Alert feature lets you know you if threatening weather is nearby with an alert tone even if CB is turned off. Radio Check Diagnostic / Antenna Calibration allows testing of important radio functions such as RF power, antenna condition and battery voltage. SWR Calibration allows calibration of antenna system for maximum performance. Antenna should be bought separately. The Memory Channel with Scan Feature stores up to 10 of your most frequently used channels for quick access, and scans through all of them as needed. A 4-pin front microphone connector allows convenient installation to be in-dash or under-dash. Speak clearly with the adjustable Dynamike feature, which boosts your microphone for increased voice clarity, and the Delta Tune clarifies incoming signals. Works really good in my work truck. I really only use it when I’m at my landfill but sound is nice. Great features. Easy install, if you plug it up an it doesn’t get power. Check your fuse cause mine blew one when I plugged it in. Make sure you have good antenna.

Absolutely love this CB! I am a storm chaser, so the need for weather radio and quick communications was a must, and who else to turn to for these needs than Cobra, one of the best in the business for a long time! There are cheaper radio options out there, but if you want quality products with great features that will last, this is the exact place to look! My favorite feature is the built in receiving capabilities for the weather radio, as being a full out weather nerd, as well as a degreed meteorologist, and a storm chaser, this is just flat out cool! You can scan all 7 NWS broadcast weather stations, as well as the 3 Public Alert Stations. You can actively scan the stations so that you will always jump to the closest (and most relevant) station, as well as you can set up weather alerts that the CB will lock to the closest station and if a watch or warning goes out, it will automatically flip the radio over to the weather channel so you are instantly aware of the warning! This is an incredibly useful and awesome feature for storm chasing and can be useful for many different operations! Also, you have instant channel 9/19 on the regular CB channels, you can scan all 40 channels to find ones with activity, and you have a lot of control as this is a high end system to get everything perfectly to your preferred settings! Plus, another awesome feature on this is the digital screen which can show so much, from a clock/timer/alarm to for timing driving time and an easy to view clock to weather alert status, just so much! As well as, you have the ability to change the color of the face of the radio from your choice of 4 colors that will match most interior lightning colors in vehicles, or whatever your preferred color to look at is! All around, this radio is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend this if you are in the market for one! For me, I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. I mounted with the Rugged Ridge high center mount which is located between the sun visors above the rear view mirror, and it fits perfectly with the mic hanging on the side of the radio with the included mic mount! There are just so many features and awesome bits of info with this radio that I can't even possibly hit all of them, but I am positive that you will not be disappointed with this high quality radio! ... show more

This CB is outstanding. It may be a tad pricy but with a cheaper CB its hard to understand people. First off I ordered this CB on a Saturday. The estimated shipping date was next Friday to Tuesday. This was a problem as I really wanted the cab by Thursday so I could mount it and have it for a road trip I was about to take. The package came in a day early. This shipped from California and I live on the east coast of Maryland. I used standard 3-5 day shipping. Very pleased. Next the box has minimal damage. And by minimal I mean the corners were messed up but that was expected with a coast to coast shipment. However when I opened the box the radio was covered in bubble wrap and looked factory fresh very pleased with that. Now the actual radio is nice its easy to calibrate the directions are in AMERICAN English only and are short and simple to read. Next the install. I took off my radio cover. And ran my antenna wire through my dampners in my pickup. The Antenna is roof mounted and I ran my radio cord through my radio etc. Next the power cord its a plug for the back of the cab a fuse and the other end is a piece of stripped wire. The whole thing is about 5 food long. If your not experienced with cars or wire splicing I would reccomend getting the cigarette lighter adapter. However if you think you can do it. I just spliced the hot and neutral in with my cigarette lighter and it works fine and my cigarette light will still charge my phone. Lastly you can hardwire to your battery the only reason is because the CB lights up and is easy to tell when its on. Just remember the antenna really determines how far your signal is. I hooked up a small PA system with my CB but beware while this isn't illegal where I live a cop can and will usually give you shit if they hear it. Other than that this is a great looking quality inexpensive ( not cheap inexpensive for the quality) cab. PS when I mounted my radio bracket I used all four self tapping screws on the mount. Your oonly supposed to use two for the radio bracket and the other two are for the mic holder. I didn't know this so I just used two more self tapping screws I had lying around for the mic mount. It's a nice, smart little radio, great for first time CB'ers. CRUCIAL detail left by another reviewer (copied below), some antennas require a different tune and the factory tune doesn't work for them. Minor adjustment (looks harder than it is, done in <10 minutes) is required. After that, peaches. --- TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10057 and the bulletin should be located. It gives detailed instructions how to resolve the ANT warning issue. I took the information and applied an intuitive approach since I do not have the required tools as in the directions. this is what I did: disconnect CB first from power. 1)remove the outer cover panels. 2) Reconnect to 12v power source 3) Locate the VR6 between the back of the radio, between the antenna jack and the power jack. Looks like a circular, flat dial. Picture a small dime 4) Turn the VR6 counter-clockwise until the VR6 stops. Be careful not to touch other circuitry while connected to 12v power 5) Key the mic and speak into the mic and turn the VR6 clockwise until the ANT warning goes off. I then secured the VR6 in place with a small piece of electrical tape. 6) Disconnect from 12v power, reinstall outer covers and then reinstall CB. ... show more
