Everything is as expected, with two exceptions. The board seems well constructed, as the stones and die do. The main problem I have is the way the two board pieces were attached to each other. The ends are not flush in the middle; one side is higher than the other. So when you send the other players stone to the bar, it doesn't have a flat (even) surface to sit on. It has to balance on one edge or it falls onto the board. My other concern is the hinges. They should be countersunk on the inside of the board; while these are attached to the outside. That may not sound like a problem until you slide it across a wood table and it digs groves into the wood. I learned the hard way. ... show more

I wanted a backgammon game to teach my husband how to play. I went with a larger size because he is a big guy. It was exactly what I needed and the craftsmanship was fair. Sure it could have been made a little bit better but I can’t complain and I would gift it to someone.

    • Beautiful Backgammon Set but terrible directions!

I had the option of three sizes and I went with the large. It’s really well made. He pieces are weighty, and the board has vinyl to hold them so no worry about them moving around as occurs with less expensive sets! My only complaint is the directions. They are written in light orange lettering on white paper which is VERY difficult to read AND he lettering is VERY tiny! My husband and I are beginners so the directions are important to us. Yes, I realize we can go online and obtain directions or watch videos but at this price I think the directions should be printed in black text and certainly in a normal text size. If the typical email is written in #10 font, this font is around a 5? I’d have given this 5 stars had the company not tried to save a dollar with the printing. ... show more

    • Wonderful backgammon set
Wonderful backgammon set! It's a little larger, perfect for table top game play. It also folds and packs nicely so that it can travel. It appears to have a double knight fabric as the base with the faux leather sewn on top for the points on the actual board. The chips or checkers are smooth and fit nicely together on the board. There is a visible area on the bar for hit chips to reside before reentering. It includes the cups, dice and doubling cube, as well as a little booklet of history and instruction game play. I didn't read through as I knew already how to play. The cups may be somewhat fragile, as they seem to not be made from a stiff material, but one that could be bent if squeezed to hard, so be careful on that note with the cups. The outside is covered in the faux leather, and has the white and black stripes running down the middle, adding a nice contrast to the brown exterior. The latches allow it to lock tight, and the handle is great for carrying. I'd recommend this board to anyone if they love backgammon, want to learn, or have the space for a large travel board. I've already played forty games or so, breaking it in and it's been wonderful. ... show more

Finally, after buying a cheap one and returning another, a board that feels nice playing on. Not too fancy, just built well for the price. The dice and the chips have a good weight to it. My wife and I play best 3 out of 5 almost every day. Lots of fun. Don’t ever play against her, she’s sooooo lucky! ... show more
