I purchased 10of these sets for my special education students so that they could play an easy game with each other. It came the next day. The board is folded into quarters and fits easily into the box. It had been years since I played checkers and the easy instructions helped me to recall how lot play. At first my students were putting the pieces on the red spaces as well as moving them into the red spots. I explained that the “red” was red, hot lava from the volcano and that’s why the pieces could never go on them and they had to stay on the black or jump over the black pieces when they capture each other. After 2 supervised games, many of them were able to play each other on their own. My students range in ages from mid to late teens but have the cognition ability of elementary school age children. They interacted with each other and loved when they got to day “King me”. The pieces are plastic and lightweight. I would have liked them to be heavier but I really liked how everything fit into the box for easy storage. Because the checkers are so light, I anticipate losing some and bought extra from another site. It was very heartwarming to see 20 kids sitting down having fun and engaged in a board game. ... show more
