  • Best Outdoor Antenna - really delivers what it promises
Style: 100 Mile
Recently bought the Channel Master -Masterpiece CM-5020 antenna. The intention was to cut the 'cord' ( stop paying for Satellite TV) Did research on the Channel Master website, which is very well constructed. Followed instructions to easily plug in my zip code, and located 54 TV stations available in my location. This included all networks (ABC,CBS,NBC, Fox, CW, PBS) as well as Grit,Antenna , Justice, Ion, Bounce,My TV,Laff, Escape, Cozi, Comet TV sub stations. PBS, is only 7 miles away, however rest of station towers were 33 miles or further away. I opted to also purchase the Channel Master CM7778HD preamplifier to strengthen these signals, as well a Channel Master Rotor to direct the antenna to each tower location. Installed the antenna on a pole mount app. 22 feet off the ground. I used the RCA Tower finder app. to get a good idea which way to point the antenna towards stations I wanted to recieve. This also enabled me to see what obructions may be in the way. The majority of station towers are located north west, which I located halfway down a hill, with an open haylot (35 acres) facing another hill with a heavy forested tree line. I also have an Oak tree that is just periphery catching the the edge of the visual signal line of sight. Installed the antenna during Memorial weekend. Connected all the cables, put antenna together (very easy) tested the amplifier , rotor, and turned on TV ( Antenna was laying on ground) ran a scan, and pulled in 16 stations ( mostly PBS,Ion, shopping network channels) Encouraged by this , mounted antenna and rest of hardware on mast, raised the mounted pole / antenna, using my John Deere tractor. Buried pole 4 ' deep. Completed all cable connections, Powered amplifier up, Rotor, TV, ran another channel scan and located 46 stations. To say that the wife was very pleased and I was a hero is and understatement. The picture quality is razor sharp, better than the HD channel pictorial quality with the satellite. We find that the sound quality is better and don't have to turn volume up as loud with the satellite. . We've eliminated a $60.00 dollar bill per month , getting rid of the satellite. Antenna has been operational for about 10 days now, we've had rain, wind, fog and have experienced no signal loss. We did have a bit of pixelation on two of the channels and that was corrected by moving the antenna direction using the rotor. I cannot thank Channel Master enough for the high quality of their product. We are 100% percent satisfied. The neighbors have been checking out our system and quite impressed. My wife said that I might have started a new fad in the neighborhood. Thanks Amazon & Channel Master! ... show more

  • Antenna
Style: 100 Mile
We live in Northern Wisconsin where there the nearest TV stations 75 miles away, most are 100 miles plus. I mounted the antenna on 20 ft pole with rotor and 4 feet of mast above that, this brings it into the tree tops of the giant oaks surrounding the property. I have a channel master booster installed inline. In the summer I can bring in the channels very well on the 75 mile away stations but not very much further, in the winter when the leaves are down I can receive the channels at 100 miles plus. The instructions say to mount the antenna no less than 30 feet high, so I am going to raise it to that height and hope my reception improves. The quality of this antenna is excellent, it is very easy to assemble, but I was a bit disappointed on the size, some how I thought it would be bigger. I don't think I would buy this again, I would go for the bigger channel Master antenna and hope it would pick up more channels. ... show more

  • works very well
Style: 100 Mile
I have used 3 different flat indoor antennas, and would not waste my time with them again. A few years ago, I installed a Lava rooftop antenna with a remote rotor, and it wasn't too bad. I never could get channel 10 here in the Springfield, MO area, and even talked to an engineer at the station asking advice for getting reception. He gave me a line filter and some generic advice, and none of it worked. The transmission tower for the local PBS station fell a couple years ago, and our precarious reception went away. The 25 and 49 series of channels left us, as well, about the same time. We were down to just a few channels, and resorted to Sling and CBS All Access to fill in some of the blanks. Recently, I purchased the Channel Master CM 5020. It is a monster-10 feet long and 8 feet wide. I wrestled it into my attic and spent a couple hours installing it. Not much for instructions, but it was pretty self-explanatory. I aimed it towards Fordland, where most of the local towers are located, and immediately scanned in 31 channels. The elusive channel 10 has 4 versions, and comes in clear. 3 PBS channels, likewise. I am pretty sure I have good access to all the channels available in this area, but I will do a rescan soon to see if I can find some more. During stormy weather, the channel 3-2 weather station pixelates somewhat (ironically), but access is good generally, even in inclement weather. Best $123 I ever spent on anything for home entertainment ... show more
