  • I HAVE NOT USED IT YET
LIKE I SAID I HAVE NOT TRIED IT YET. THE WEATHER WARMED UP. I MAINLY WANTED IT BECAUSE I PARK IN THE GARAGE AND MY BATTERY IS NOT REACHABLE FOR THE USE OF JUMPER CABLES. I ALSO WANTED SOMETHING SIMPLE FOR ME, THE FEMALE.

  • Only Good for a Trickle
Good for a slow recharge, but the "emergency start" is pretty useless.

  • Good Charger but needs modification
I bought this charger from Harbor freight, the (automatic is garbage) it made it so safe, that it seldom worked. But then, frustrated, I removed the automatic computer, & installed 2 of the 20 amp diodes, ring side to the basic transformer clips, the black diode side to the ground plate, The diodes which I bought at Amazon. Now it is a great charger, like in the old days, but better. The 2 amp now= 10 amp,( 8 hours charge max) max voltage 14.43, the 10 amp selection = 20 amp charger, (4 hours charge max) max voltage=16 volts & the 50 amp may charge more than the diodes can handle. So in essence, it is like a big charger, But it charges like it is suppose to. I Labled the amp meter in amps, with a paper scale, covered with scotch tape. And Labled the selections accordingly. I now love it, (but there is no maintainer on it (the voltage is too high) Once I replaced the Charger computer with two 20 amp diodes, it charges more like the alternator amps & volts, on the 2 amp setting, which is normally around 14.5 volts. I bought a newer model ths week, The diode pack is seperate from the computer, I put a shorting clip on two solder joints, feeding the 120v conection to the transformer that are next to each other, bypassing the automatic functions. This solved two problems, lower resistance to charge, & disabling of the safety of cross polarity. a very discarged battery, can now be charged, to avoid crossing polarity, attach the clamps to the battery first, if the meter moves, or the clamps spark, then the polarity is wrong, all other functions still work fine' ... show more

  • Total garbage!
If you have a dead battery, this will NOT charge it because of the short circuit protection. It will NOT recognize a dead battery, and barely works on a slightly depleted one. Returning it today.

I purchased this at harbor freight on a whim. I have a BMW 5 Series that's not driven everyday. The battery was drained completely and I was able to charge the battery in approximately 4 hours. Worth the price.
