  • Great Strategy Game for Kids
This game is touted with being one of the best "junior" games out there. I'd agree. I don't like the length of the original game but have watched others play and can tell it's very similar in its mechanics. I like the much shorter nature of this game and am willing to play. My son and I will play with his dad now and it has enough strategy for his dad to enjoy the Catan-ness of it while still offering enough luck to give my son the edge he needs to occasionally win. ... show more

  • Fun game for kiddos!
My 12yr old and 6yr old love to play this together. It was easy enough for even the 6yr old to understand the rules and the basic concept, but still a challenging game play for even the 12yr old too. They are developing their strategy skills, thinking about how their move effects the future of their success (or failure) in the game. It’s a lot fun! This photo is the very 1st time we played. Our 6yr old WON! I like how the resources in this version are very thick and not easily bent all up. It seems like it will hold up very well for a very long time! Nicely made! Sometimes my husband and I play with them, but more often, the kids play this Jr version while adults play the adult version at the same time. Our dining table isn’t used for meals… it’s the Catan game table! ... show more

  • Such a great game!
I gotta say it first - the pieces are very well made, the quality of the game is absolutely great. The game itself is super fun. We play it with our 6yo, and she really likes it (but mom and dad like it even better lol we love it). At first, it might seem overwhelming to learn, but I'll give u a suggestion. Here at home we created what we call RTBB (roll, trade, buy, build), this way you never forget what to do on your turn (it helps the kiddos). You always ROLL the dice first, but for the others you can change the order (you may buy stuff first, or trade first, etc). Once u get a hang of that, you know the game, which is super easy and entertaining. Also, if the attention span of your lil kid is too short, you can finish the game by creating your own rule such as the winner is whoever builds 3 (or maybe 4) "forts" (instead of 5). It makes the game finish faster for your little one. We do enjoy playing Catan Junior a lot. ... show more

  • Super family game!
Love this game. 6 year old and 8 year old grandkids really enjoyed playing the game, even though 6 year old wasn’t reading yet. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the game, being a die-hard Settlers of Catan game. Highly recommend

  • Great introduction to Catan for kids
My daughter is loving this game! Very easy to play, no reading, symbols make playing very simple. Quick turns and decent decision making. Great collection to our junior games!

  • Nice durable junior version
My six year old granddaughter loves to play games with us. She spotted our Catan and wanted to play it. But at 6, I think it's too complex for her so I looked to see if there was a junior version and was happy to receive it by morning. I was impressed that they pieces all seem durable and that the two sided board allows for 2 player. It is still a bit complex but the game does advance quickly and the she had the patience to go through the learning process to complete the first game. I look forward to playing with her more so we both are more comfortable with the choices we have each turn. Very happy with the purchase. ... show more
