These were a breeze to put together. It took me longer to get them out of the box than to set up. They fit in a small space perfectly, but give a lot of shelf space. I have this small space at the end of the hall and with one corner shelf and a planter, it gives me a perfect little eye pop space. They seem sturdy and well made. I am being generous in giving this four stars; it's a little better than three - but four might be a stretch, depending on your intended use.... First, let me tell you the condition in which it arrived: The box appeared OK, but when I opened it and lifted the unit out, pieces came sliding out of the bubble wrap along with some loose screws... One of the shelves was ripped completely off the unit and two of the dowels were broken. (To Amazon's credit, they shipped a replacement immediately and made arrangements to pick up the damaged piece... Good job, Amazon!) When the second one arrived it was in a different kind of box, one with factory labels on it - and a bit sturdier. This led me to believe the first one had been returned & repacked... Second, this unit is fine for smaller paperback books and small decorations, but you can't do a whole lot on a quarter-round shelf... (I ended up turning it over to my wife to use, for just that, in another corner - it worked fine for her. And I ordered something more substantial for myself!). I also question its construction - while the middle shelves fold up & the sides fold in, you would first have to pop the top off. This is for portability and storage... But, then it is NOT very big when fully erected - so why sacrifice the strength? Another point on the construction. There is a small foot that screws in near the front of the bottom shelf. This is important because weight added at the front edge of the shelves would tend to tip it over. When I screwed this foot in, all the way up, it ended up being about ⅛ of an inch shorter than the other feet. So, you could still end up with a slight tipping hazard... It was easy enough to fix by putting a thick felt pad on the bottom of that foot. (But you shouldn't need to do this, right?!?!?) Overall it's a fairly nice unit though somewhat lacking in stability. Don't buy it expecting to load it down with hardback books or heavy what-nots. It will work fine for lightweight stuff though - and it does look fairly nice. ... show more

This fits in the corner on the stairway landing without getting in the way. It is the perfect size! Simple to assemble, and has an extra foot on the bottom shelf to make it more stable - nice design. I actually really love this sweet little corner shelf. I did have some initial frustrations with it, however, but fortunately I'm going to make it work. First frustration is that the color I ordered, "Honey Oak," appears much darker in the online photo than it does in person. Meaning, when it arrived I was surprised by how light it was. I would call it an orangish light brown. By happy coincidence it actually matches the wood in our living room area better than I would have expected, so with my first surprise relieved I went on to putting it together... The bookcase will arrive mostly assembled, and even the most basic of dunces will be able to fit the top on and screw on the extra leg and stabilizing screw to make it secure. That is only IF the holes drilled into the top match the pegs that they are supposed to just "pop in" on the bookcase (directions being quoted here). Ours were not aligned, and I was pretty certain that I would have to send it back, but with some squeezing of one side towards the other and forceful maneuvering I was finally able to wedge it on and hammer the top down. I'm not sure how easily it will be to get it off, but as an environmentalist I wanted to make it work since I figured it would get thrown out otherwise, and I wanted to salvage it if I could. It's definitely secure now, as it's wedged on so tightly, but a note to the manufacturer: make sure that your drilled holes are matching up with your pegs before shipment. Last complaint, which is really my fault as I should have measured (duh), but the shelf is much smaller than I realized it would be. At widest it's probably a foot. The small footprint will do nicely as a plant stand or a place for photos, knick-knacks, or necessities that you want to keep near a door (like a dog leash, etc). Don't expect to get a lot of use out of it - this is more for mild/minor function and aesthetic purposes, IMO. All this being said I actually gave it three stars because the wood color just glows, and the craftsmanship is very good (other than the problem that I had with the shelf top, there are no other problems and it seems very secure and balanced). I'm going to keep it and am ultimately happy with the purchase. ... show more
