Great value! This roof bag was almost too big for our small roof rack. We were able to fit four beach chairs, and three carry-on size luggage bags, and a few other items. It rained on us for most of the 5 hour drive and the inside stayed dry. Nice oversized plastic zippers are easy to open and close. This model is designed right with the solid side facing front and the zipper sides to the rear to keep the water from being forced in by airspeed. The straps are in the right place and easy to use. We recently got rid of our old vehicle and got a newer one. The biggest downside we have to deal with is that the new vehicle is significantly smaller, so we don't have the storage space that we're used to, so we thought this would be good to have when going on trips. The size is really good, you can put a lot in there. We haven't used it enough yet to rate its durability or how well it keeps the water out, but the material is pretty thick and the zippers are covered, so I think in the long run it will hold up. There are a few issues though, particularly if you don't have a roof rack. First of all is the storage itself. All the pictures show it fully opened up, and the "aerodynamic design." It makes it look as if it has pop up sides or something. In reality it's basically just a giant bag, so it won't have that nice shape unless you have it completely filled up. The other issue is installation. I figured if you don't have a roof rack you would just run the cords thru the car, no big deal. In reality if you don't have a roof rack you have to peel back the weather stripping at the top of the door frame, set these hooks with a loop they give you in place, then try to push the weather stripping back into place. This is a bit of a pain to do, not to mention I don't know about you but I don't like pulling the weather stripping back repeatedly as I don't want to wear it out and have it start sagging down. Overall, if you are short on storage in your vehicle and could use some extra space once in a while, this is a decent find, but if possible I recommend having a luggage rack to attach it to. ... show more

Packed the carrier for a 15 hour drive from Missouri to New York. The carrier and straps were easy to get on the car and load. There was minimal noise from the carrier while driving. There was a ton of rain the last three hours of the drive. After arriving, unloading, then taking the carrier off, we found the holes and one of the arms for the straps began disconnected from the main section. Everything was installed and loaded as directed. Luckily we only had minimal rain seep in the holes so no major damage to bags and clothes. Cannot believe this had this much damage from the first use. We still have to get home too. Guess we will have to duct tape and pray for no rain on the way home. ... show more

We bought this so we could use the 3rd row in our Kia. Three kids and two adults on a one week beach vacation 15 hours away and it fit everything we needed to bring, including our big cargo wagon. This was awesome! Bought it solely for camping to put on my Crosstrek and it fits a lot of our stuff! Queen sleeping bag, 2 large quilt blankets, our tent, a smaller fold up table and games and it could've fit more! we had super bad wind driving one day and it didnt budge!
