For a home printer it does everything needed. Print quality is very good and fast enough, scans are clear. Only issue I had was that the wireless connection didn't work, the setup process couldn't connect to my home WiFi, though all the other devices in my house work just fine. Not a big deal, I just used the USB connection to my home print server. Ink usage seems a bit high but the on-screen indicators usually aren't very accurate. What a pain reading reviews of the major printer manufacturers to get an idea which one might be the best one. We are all Mac in our house. We aren't really interested in printing from phones and tablets (although that's nice), our laptops had to work with this. They do. We have M2 Macs on Sonoma so we're good there. We're doing everything wirelessly. I actually own two Canons right now, but one is so old it doesn't talk to our Macs any. more (more than 15 years). We just kept it around for faxing. I also have a Canon D530 black and white laser printer which otherwise only scans and copies and doesn't have fax capability, go figure. I got it on a lightning deal years ago for $79 with toner so I couldn't pass on that. Ok on to this TR4720. I decided to stick with Canon, even though there were quite a few bad reviews on it. I think some people aren't too smart when it comes to tech, or legitimately received a bad unit. I'm happy to once again be able to wirelessly print with this unit. I like that I can wireless scan and it just puts the image in my photos folder. It prints color well enough for me (the real reason I wanted to purchase this). The one thing that was the most difficult to figure out was how to send a fax. Canon has an official testing fax number so Google and you'll find it. HP has one too. The Canon instructions are a mess and way too complex for what should be a simple process. I looked at some videos which were all very bad, but one provided just enough insight into how to do this. It's very unintuitive how you send a fax because you don't press the fax button. Check this out. 1. Put your sheet to fax in the automatic document feeder/or on the scanner glass. 2. Press the Start button on the left (the black and white copy button). 3. Dial the number you want to call. 4. As soon as you hear the fax sound over the Canon's really poor speaker, press the Start button again. 5. Your document will start feeding in and the transmission will complete shortly. 6. Since my Canon is daisy chained to my landline phone (and I set the phone to be priority on the Canon) I wait for the reply fax to call my phone. 7. Answer or put the phone on speaker. 8. When you hear the fax sound, then press the Start button on the Canon and it begins receiving. 9. Hang up the phone once you have the document. My biggest gripe is the LCD screen which I can't read unless I shine my phone's flashlight into it. I wish this was backlit. Another feature I like is going into Settings on my Mac and going into the printer. There are a ton of settings that can be configured, and maintenance cycles. It will also tell you your ink levels. I used the starter cartridges it came with and after printing 8 pages of full color and 6 pages of black and white single sided the color ink level is at about 15% and the black is about 33%. ... show more

This arrived yesterday to finally replace a BEAST of a printer/copier/scanner. PROS: - Size! Super small and compact is great to maximize office space. - Print quality (for normal documents) seems very good (haven't tried anything more complex like photos yet) - Set up (linking to my Windows laptop + iPhone app was super easy. It just worked. YAY! - Scanning directly from machine to my laptop (e.g. for tax biz receipts) was simple and also worked well. CONS: - Wow this little thing is LOUD! My old printer is 4x the size and is 4x as quiet. - Installing the cartridges is a little challenging; plastic parts (including the paper trays) feel fragile. Also I'm super glad I got extra toner b/c the Black included is clearly a "starter" and isn't very full. - I don't leave my printer on all the time; it's more of a press and hold on/off and takes a moment to be ready. - No good place for paper to "be" (stored) if you want it to be super compact. (I took it out of the tray and placed on top.) ... show more

I love this printer! As a former HP owner this printer has exceeded my expectations. Very easy to set up and took no effort at all to connect to my wifi. I was printing from my phone in minutes. Went to print something off my tablet a week later and it was already set up. I didn't have to do anything extra. If you've ever suffered connectivity issues with a printer before get this. Now, it's not a silent printer and it's not a speedy printer but it prints clearly and it's connected ALL THE TIME. Also signed up for the Cannon ink service so I'll never run out. ... show more

I have poor internet signal here and had to install 3 times because adding the password on the device is impossible. It only does letters. I bought a cable to hook straight into my computer. Scanning and copying work great though the paper feeder on top crunched up my original upon first use so I don’t use that any more. I had problems switching back to printing after using these features. It kept telling me the printer was offline. Since I had to install so many times trying to get the wi-fi connected, I had to make sure it was printing to the original install. Putting the ink in was not fun. I did it the right way the first time and it said it was wrong. I tried it again a bit higher and it said it was wrong. I tried it the original way and it worked. My cat broke the paper output try on the first day by stepping on it. It’s still in one piece but it no longer latches in the closed position. All in all, it’s a cheap printer that comes with problems but works if you whisper sweet nothings to it. If you are money-challenged it’s an okay buy. If you can afford a more expensive and higher quality printer, buy that instead. ... show more

Got this printer today and my son set it up. He said it was pretty easy to do. I got the white printer and it is a nice looking printer. There is a slight lag when you hit print and nothing happens and then it starts to print. It is pretty noisy as it starts to print, but I can live with it since we're not sleeping while it's printing. Overall, I'm very satisfied with it so far. ... show more
