For some reason my initial review was flagged for violating community guidelines, so I want to be clear why I have a problem with this hammock. For backpacking, weight is everything. I have been considering investing in a backpacking hammock as a lighter-weight alternative to my backpacking tent, which weighs just under 3 lbs. But I've never camped in a hammock before and I want to know that I enjoy it before spending $200+ on a setup from REI. When I saw this hammock, the price was great and the advertised weight was 1.8 lbs, so it seemed like the perfect option for what I'm looking for. When the hammock arrived, it felt heavier than I was expecting right out of the package, so I put it on a scale. Sure enough, it weighed in at 2.6 lbs, nearly as heavy as my backpacking tent. This is disappointing to me, and the seller should update the weight on the page to reflect the actual weight. In backpacking, a pound is a big deal. This is not what I signed up for. That said, for the price point I will probably hold onto this and take it on a one night backpacking trip to try out hammock camping, but at 2.6 lbs, this won't be a long term solution for me. ... show more

Overall the hammock portion of this product is reasonably well made. The downside to this product is the "rain fly". It does a fine job of keeping the sun out of your eyes, but is by no means waterproof. The tip off is the lack of seam sealing on the sewn seams. The tarp will leak badly even in moderate rain. The material itself appears to be impermiable to water, the seams however are not. I tested this during the first moderate rain after purchase and woke up at 1:00 am completely saturated with water steadily dripping on me. The leaks came from the seams of the fly. If you intend to use this hammock in anything other than perfect weather seam seal the fly replace with one that is, or expect to get wet. I'm glad I was testing this in the back yard and not out in a more remote location as hypothermia would have been a real concern in the high 30 degree temperatures. For a few dollars more this could be a far better product that would match the product description. Without seam tape, it's a product that could put you at serious risk so buyer beware. ... show more

I'm really excited about this new hammock. I have been wanting straps for a while, but too cheap to buy them separately, so I was pleased to find both the double hammock (which I've been wanting) and the straps in one package! Obviously this time of year isn't necessarily conducive for hammocking, but I was too excited to wait, so we set it up in my basement:) The hammock is great. No complaints there. Each end has a carabiner attached so you can easily clip it into the straps. It's nice and spacious by myself--it completely envelops me. I probably would have chosen different colors if there were any, but I also kind of like the ugly greens in a weird sort of way. The straps themselves seem rather short compared to others I've seen--that's disappointing. I didn't look at the dimensions before buying. Also, they only have one loop on either end of the strap, making it pretty hard to adjust the hammock if need be. Knowing these things beforehand may have swayed my decision to buy them. I ended up mix and matching with another strap that had more loops so that I could adjust the hammock easier. ... show more

I have a hammock stand in my bedroom i sleep in the hammock almost every night way more comfortable then my bed but when you bring it out camping or backpacking its awesome works really well and the tarp works well too i set it up next to the lake fell asleep and woke up and it was raining i was completely dry and I also love the straps they are so easy to set up rather then tying rope every time ... show more

Love the product, it was comfortable and I slept bug-free! But my buddy cinched down the line for rain fly and it ripped ever so slightly. I can fix it but it could've been more durable at the tie-off points. Good value for the price.

Great purchase for the cost! The bug net is a lifesaver for camping. The canopy is a little small but it does protect you from light rain. Medium to heavy rain would be a problem though. The straps are durable and hold up nice. I would recommend buying a sleeping pad so you're not rolled up like a burrito. ... show more
