  • Solidly built
Simple & quite useful for sighting in the scopes on my airguns. What more can i say.. Sold on it i am.

  • Great for the price, might need to make a couple modifications.
I think I got the idea from a review here or video on youtube, but I put a small piece of safety grip tape (stair tread sandpaper type tape) in the groove the friction brake rides in, which helps it stay put. I also added an eyebolt to the front to hang on the wall in the garage (fairly bulky), and will probably add a rubber foot with an adjustable screw on the back. It works great, don't expect it to be a lead-sled, and the plastic construction is pretty robust. I used this to help get my rifles scoped in using a minimum amount of ammunition, at a time when hunting ammunition was generally unavailable. if I were into precision-long range shooting, I'd look at a more full featured shooting rest. I'll also use this as a rifle cleaning stand, probably adding front and/or rear straps to stabilize. For someone looking to sight-in a few rifles or target shoot occasionally, I think it works pretty well. If you're trying to reach out a long way, you might be looking for something more like the Caldwell Stinger. ... show more

  • Not tall enough
Very short, if you are a taller person this is not for you. Works as intended. Good quality.

  • Great for our intended PCP air rifle use!
Have a Benjamin Marauder .22 PCP rifle for backyard plinking and metal target flipping. The Marauder is equipped with a Hawke variable scope and the total weight is kind of heavy. My wife loves shooting the rifle but with her arthritis she has trouble holding the rifle completely steady. This rest helps tremendously with sighting in (1-hole groups @ 25 yards) and my wife does very well using this rest to plink. It has really increased our shooting enjoyment. It's not super sturdy but is more than adequate for our PCP rifle. Would certainly be fine for .22 rimfire too, but not sure about larger calibers where recoil is involved. Haven't used it for handgun shooting yet. ... show more

  • Works but could be more stable.
Needs more weight to keep it from moving around.

  • Works Awesome
I should have purchased something like this years ago. It has made working on rifles way easier, especially when it comes to mounting and taking off components from said rifle, while keeping it leveled.

  • NOT at all ideal for handguns unless they have big frames and a very long barrel
This “rifle pistol handgun shooting rest may work out OK for helping me sight-in my two rimfire rifles, but I hoped this would do what I really wanted to do: sight in my several pistols and one revolver. As is, right out of the box (with no modifications) that won’t work. If you have a large frame revolver with a long barrel (>>4-5 inches) or a large pistol with a long barrel (e.g, a full-size 1911) this device MAY be big enough, but I’m not sure how the rest will hold up with larger centerfire cartridges, handgun or long gun. The "LIGHT WEIGHT" of this is likely to be a problem when shooting other than small low-recoil cartridges, even though it makes toting the rest around. All my semiautos are on the smallish size: Baby Glocks/26 and 27, a CZ compact in 9 mm, a couple of 1911-style downsized guns with 3 inch barrels, a Bersa 380, and a .38 spl Taurus snubbie. All but the Bersa and the Taurus were BARELY long enough to rest on the “FRONT CRADLE AND RAM” when it was in its lowest position, but when they did the barrels were pointed up in the air maybe 30 degrees. (My even smaller Bersa (PPK knock-off) and my Taurus snubbie revolver were complete no-gos.) However, because of the length of that “FRONT CRADLE” (which would be fine for a rifle) the barrels of my handguns were barely on the cradle, not at all close to being past it in front. The anticipated consequence? Haven’t tested yet, but I suspect that after not many shots from any of my guns the muzzle flash and hot gases will eat away at/burn the top of the padded cradle. So I’ve had to jury-rig one thing (and I hate jury-rigging stuff I buy to get them to work). I took a fine grit 3M sanding “sponge” and used an orbital sander with larger grit to smooth the sponge (yes, that worked). That got me an extra 1 inch of “tallness” so that when I rested the butts of my pistols on the sponge the barrels aren’t pointing upward. I put Velcro on the bottom of the sponge and the top of the cushioned front base, rather than glue the sponge to the base. However, this modification did NOT make the ends of the barrels extend further over, then past, the cradle, so as I predict, with repeated use muzzle flash will ruin the cradle. All that aside, I think there are other design elements of this rest that are less than desirable, if not poor. First, the “ram tension knob” used to tighten height adjustments of the front cradle points back (towards the shooter) rather than downrange. The knob is large/thick and so takes up space such that it prevents placing a handgun’s grip closer to the cradle than is possible now. I think the knob should be moved to the very front of the rest. Another problem, this pertaining to the FRONT CRADLE AND RAM and the RAM TENSION KNOB, Instructions Part D (“inserting the cradle and ram”) states to “Fully LOOSEN the RAM TENSION KNOB” so you can insert the ram so it’ll engage the height-adjusting cogged knob. Great. Next, and before you actually insert the ram, you’re told to rotate the TENSION SPRING that’s on the back of the TENSION KNOB so the spring is oriented vertically. You can’t do that, at least not easily, with that nob backed all the way out. I tried; in the position recommended the spring is pressed hard against the base and hits one of the adjusting cogs, making it virtually impossible to rotate. (The retention clip that holds the spring in place fell off when I tried to muscle the spring to rotate with the fully loosened RMA TENSION KNOB.) What you need to do is turn the KNOB all the way IN (NOT OUT). This lets the spring spin free so you can easily orient it in the right direction. Then you can back it ALL THE WAY OUT AGAIN and then insert the elevating “RAM” and its attached front rest. WHY COULDN’T THEY HAVE SIMPLY ORIENTED THE SPRING IN THE PROPER DIRECTION AT THE FACTORY??? These are the main reasons why I gave this item only 2 stars. I may check back and update after a couple of trips to the range. ... show more
