  • Absolute best tube amp head I’ve ever owned.
Style: Tube Head
My favorite amp head I’ve ever had. From the first time many many years ago I bought this amp put it in the combo form. After owning several black stars a tiny terror on Marshall and other amps I bought this to use with my cab and this is absolutely my favorite app of all the a.m. so I’ve had After owning several black stars a tiny terror on Marshall and other amps I bought this to use with my cab and this is absolutely my favorite app of all the amps I’ve had. It’s simple but it takes pedals amazingly I didn’t use the lake paddles until I tried some with this and it’s not going to be a metal lamp but it’s self but all you have to do is add a little tube screamer or something and this amp can do anything. Very low on wanted noise levels and the power attenuator is great to have. On full 5 watts with high gain the volume could literally blow your ears out could literally blow your ears out. By it self with full gain it all have an amazing bluesy crunch and on half gay and it just sounds fantastic by itself too. Designed and engineered in Germany. For the price and quality this is great. Even for a higher price it would be worth it. Has everything you need. Just use a nice cab/speaker and it will sound amazing. ... show more

  • Great bedroom amp!
Style: Tube Head
I am getting back into playing music, this time for pleasure, after fifty years of not playing. It's sort of one of the things I plan to do when I retire in a few years. Anyway, I bought the T5 to replace a Vox modeling amp; not that there was anything wrong with the Vox but no matter how many times I try, I cannot live with a solid state amp for any length of time. I had thought that it wouldn't matter and that time would have made solid state better, but no, I still long for the sound of tubes. The Bugera has several things going for it: 1) it's beautiful to look at, 2) it offers multiple output settings so I can play without bothering my neighbors, 3) it uses just two tubes (12AX7 and EL84), and 4) it's cheap! I paired it with a Fender 1x12 cab and it sounds great, even at 0.1watt. Does it sound as good as my Orange TremLord 30? No, but it's less than a quarter of the price and will be far cheaper to operate. Call me a happy camper! ... show more

  • Pretty good but low volume even for 5W
Style: Tube Head
I'm comparing this to my little smoked Epiphone junior amp also running a 12ax7 and ecc83. Sound very similar but only 1/2 the volume compared to the Epiphone on full 5W setting. It looks awesome like a 1950 toaster. Running into my frankenstein 1970 Audioanalyst speaker cab it is really quiet going into a 4 ohm 12 inch weber. It screams going into a 4 inch. You can remedy the volume putting a distortion pedal in front then it will be good for playing in the house and not pissing anyone off unless sleeping. Reverb is very good and not over the top. If I could, I'd go back in time and get another $99 Epiphone but this is pretty nice for a tiny practice amp. I will have to try out swapping the tubes with ruby old school and tung sols to see if they stocked it with crappy ones. update-I have swapped out the tubes for a ruby and tung sol and it is a tiny bit louder. I'm quite pleased with it. I don't play clean anyway so it can scream decently with a distortion and wah in the front. It can do a decent screamy job too if gain and volume all the way up with phat switch on going into a 12 inch speaker. Another update-it is quite a bit louder going into my cheap Fender 4 ohm 4x12 cab for some reason but what am I gonna do? I want to run it into a 1x12 portable. I don't know why but it hates the Weber 4 ohm 12 inch single speaker. Not much volume at all. I have since gotten an Orange Micro Dark and damn this one is SO much louder and and SO much more gain. Super happy with the Orange for a little more $. ... show more

  • Meh sound, cool look.
Style: Tube Head
It is a 5w tube amp but the sound is nothing to write home about. My Vox AC50 'nutube' amp sounds way more 'tube authentic' than this thing. It is probably on par with many of the cheap 5w tube amps out there. It is a nice little package if it only sounded better.

  • WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE???
Style: Tube Head
I can't understand what other reviewers complaints are about this unit?? I think their issue is dirty AC line noise, or the awful buzzy hissy pedals placed in front of the amp. Could be others are plugged into the kitchen circuit with the toaster, dishwasher and refrigerator! No hum until you place the guitar body directly next to the head, but who does that??? Maybe a bit pricey?? It is a bit so, I bought two to set up a stereo operation! I put both thru Celestion coax 12" speakers. Absolute audiophile clarity! Clean is CLEAN! Using the gain knob produces creamy tube overdrive. Can't beat the Harley chrome plated chassis either! I've used some Hi Fi amps that were not as clear. Lots of power at any watts selection. Controls are durable except the front panel push buttons and rear watts selector switch are good quality, but heavy handers, be careful! Without any material playing thru it, there is not ANY appreciable background noise or hum and I used single coil pickups, no shielding and a cheap cable!! Very high quality build. Way better than the defunct Vox Nightrain series amps. ... show more
