  • Fun game & good positive reinforcement tool for kids
We really like this game! The rules weren’t too complicated (especially if you are already familiar with the PacMan arcade/video game..) and it really isn’t a lot of work to reset the board so the next person can have a turn being PacMan .. we thought it would be and were a little intimidated by all the tiny pegs at first because we weren’t sure if we installed them right or how far we could push them down at first, but we quickly got the hang of it. The main challenge in resetting for the next player is keeping the board segments together .. it can be a little difficult to maneuver the board in order to hold it together while pushing the pegs back up from the bottom of the board. But it’s really not that big of a deal. Also a good thing about this game is that you can set a round limit in advance for yourselves if you want. For example, depending how much time we had, if we have 2 people taking turns we could do a quick game of 3 rounds each as PacMan — it’s like having a quick video game fix without actually using any electronics. I could see it being a great transition activity for kids or a motivator activity for them to get tasks done quicker, since it doesn’t have have to take long to complete a round, and you can keep a running tab on scores, leave it set up, & come back to it later if you want. (The length of time each round takes varies depending on how good you are at playing the game.) Overall, we really enjoy this game and think others would as well. :-) ... show more

  • READ INSTRUCTIONS CLEARLY!!
If you don’t read them right you will think the pieces don’t fit. Each is marked A B C D. The last part has to go under not over, then snap in middle piece. I will say the pegs are a pain in the butt whether u push them from underneath or not. I would not recommend this game for anyone under 12 as it is confusing. One person is pac man and others are the ghosts. The ghosts cards dictate the moves not the ghosts. You can also play in arcade mode. Directions are clear but confusing as it’s not exactly easy to play unless u make up ur own rules lol. It’s a fun game but complicated. If you are older or have hand mobility issues do not purchase this game as the pegs are almost needed to be put in every game and when pushed they fall out a lot. Cute game but construction of it could’ve been a lot better with permanent pegs. ... show more

  • Great quality, Meh Gameplay
As a child of the late 70's/early 80's, I really wanted to love this game. There's plenty to love, mind you, just not enough for me to play it more than once. First of all, the production quality of the game is top-notch. The board, the ghosts, and Pac-Man are sturdy plastic and will probably last forever. The tokens are cardboard and are printed on both sides. Pac-Man makes a single, delightful "wakka-wakka" sound when you press down on him (like when he "eats" a dot). So, up to 5 people can play this game--1 person as Pac-Man and the rest as ghosts. Pac-Man goes about the board trying to score points by clearing sections of the boards, eating fruit and ghosts. Pac-Man's turn is over once he gets hit by a ghost. The problem is, only the Pac-Man scores points. Each player has to take a turn as Pac-Man while everyone else plays the ghosts. Why is this a problem? Well, you have to reset the entire gameboard for each player--and this can be a chore. When Pac-Man "eats" a dot, he pushes a peg/dot down into the board. All those pegs/dots have to be pushed back up to reset the board. I found that this usually required the four sections of the board to be disassembled--meaning they have to be reassembled which is no minor feat. As far as game play goes, it is very similar to the video game, just slower. I will probably be sticking to the video game as I am unsure if I will ever break this game out again. My 7-year-old liked it until he experienced resetting the board a couple of times. I will say that if you are a huge Pac-Man fan and love all things 80's, then you may totally enjoy this game--at least for the first few times. The Pac-Man and ghost figures may find their way onto a display shelf while the game stays in the closet. ... show more

  • A very solid video game adaption
Pros: -creative board design -thought out pieces Cons: -board doesn't fit together perfectly -very difficult to get back into box Summary: I purchased this game when it went on sale figuring it would make an interesting addition to my game stack. I am pleased to say that though not an absolute winner among my game group nobody hated it- we're all adults in case curious. Opening the box I was very satisfied with the quality of the pieces. There is some initial setup in the form of pushing the pins into the base board but the creators were clever to design it in a way that you don't need to remove them at the end! The board itself as others have shown doesn't quite sit even which may drive some people crazy but we were able to overlook as it was quite minor. The game itself is an excellent adaptation of the video game and everyone playing as a ghost it does play fine with multiple people. The sound effect, while nice, is not the greatest design as you need to hold Pac Man just right to trigger it (move him as though he is walking on the balls of his feet). Also come time when battery ends I don't really know how you can replace it... Overall if you like board games and enjoy Pac Man you should like this one as it is very true to its theme. Putting the game back in the box however is probably it's biggest challenge so make sure you pay attention when you first unbox it! ... show more
