This is a really useful tool, it works well. The only issue I have with it is the light does not stay on after you turn it on. I don't know why they did this that way, it's annoying as hell. They're led lights and won't drain much battery so I don't understand why they designed it to turn off so quickly. Outside of that it's a great product. Pros: 1-big display 2-Adjustable handheld device makes it easy to read in places where access may be difficult 3-makes your life easy by doing the CFM calcs for you (you do need to input the diffuser/grate area or the area you are trying to measure airflow) 4-Beaufort bar display is nice (I don’t care about this measure but was nice to have) 5-appreciate the case that comes with it and makes transporting the device very convenient 6-decent price Cons: 1-almost damaged my fingers trying to open the battery case 2a-instruction is extremely poor. Full of typo and grammar issues. Not clear at all. Still trying to figure out how to store data and read the stored values 2b- tried looking for their website but failed to find any (should have done my DD before but lessons learned). 2c- this makes me question the accuracy of the device since I cannot find any reference of the manufacturer (I have not tested the accuracy of the device simply could not find a valuable reference to the producer and device) 3- I work with CFM unit but every time I switch the settings to read “Velocity/Temp” and want to go back to the “Flow” reading it automatically switches to CMM rather than the user entered CFM settings 4-backlight does not stay on and will shut off after some time (con in my opinion) 5-the USB port of the device is faulty and any small movements to it will ruin your readings and will have to start over again Overall: Make sure this device suites your application. If just for fun and testing your own home and own personal adventure then this may be an excellent choice. If for more serious applications then probably should look into it with more caution. ... show more

I hope you all can see the images. The first image, with the arrows, shows the dirt or something in the groove of the battery compartment. The next image is a closeup of that groove showing the dirt or contamination up close. We almost had to destroy the battery cover to remove it. You can see the little nicks and scratches on the edges of the cover. This cover would NOT come off easily. The cover has the fingernail notch but I initially broke a nail trying. I was about to return it when my son used a utility knife to pry open the cover, on the level of opening a cell phone. We're gonna clean out the groove and give it a spot of silicone lubricant because overall, it IS a nice, accurate and sensitive meter but the QC is bad enough to make me worry about it's long-term reliability. Will definitely update if anything else turns up - this is like a half hour after delivery. We are running it though it's paces. ... show more

Like it overall, would not take a good drop for sure. Handle is smooth plastic, needs some friction tape or something to keep from slipping out of hand. Trying to hold and push the buttons in sequence to get an average reading is a little tough. Better to memorize them and write down. Seems good for quick checking, after all , it is still guessing without a full hooded flow meter for accurate readings. But does the job as reference readings. ... show more

This ¨anemometer¨ work like a charm. Having the anemometer separate form the meter was a great idea for many reason, not only allows you to take accurate temperature without exposing the meter it shelf, but when you have to take flow and velocity from a duct above your head (on a 8ft ladder) you can see the reading and make adjustments with removing the "anemometer" from its position. Very accurate by comparing with another brand. The only reason to give four star was for the instruction or manual I should say. For a person that doesn't have used this type of equipment, the instruction require a little more explanation. Other than that I highly recommend the product. ... show more

The meter works well and is reasonably accurate as compared to a professional meter. Definitely not professional quality but decent value. My only real negative is that the turbine blade is not dynamically balanced so it slightly tracks gravity. This means that at very low flow rates (within spec), if the turbine is anything other than horizontal it may not start turning. ... show more
