I recommend that the manufacturer modify the design of the thumb screws, which are used to adjust from the stowed to load positions. One of ours broke quite easily with just finger pressure.     • Need some flexibility when installing

The instructions said to position the rear bar at 500 mm (19.68 inches) from the tail of the side rail. There was not enough adjustment in the crossbars to attach to the side rails at this distance for my 2024 Ford Escape. I had to position my brackets at 304 mm (12 inches) from the rear of the side rail with the crossbars at their maximum allowed length. Also the 700 mm (27.56 inches) between the rear cross bar and the front cross bar will be very dependent on the type of roof top carrier. With my flexible carrier, I set my crossbars 27 inches apart, but at that spacing, the contents of my flexible carrier still sagged onto the car top. Also, as already noted in other reviews, the installation of this roof rack caused a noise increase inside the vehicle. Also, as expected, the vehicle fuel mileage dropped drastically (maybe 10%). These crossbars were easy to install however the M5 screws were missing so I had to go to a hardware store to get them. They looked very good, unlike some makeshift ones that I had in the past.

I searched and even went into a local store to find cross bars that would fit my 2020 Ford Escape SE Sport Hybrid since it had the flush rails and panoramic sunroof. At the store the guy said due to the flush rails I needed to buy these additional fit clips ($150), then the feet, and then the crossbars and my total was quickly $700-$800. Needless to say, I left the store and was determined to find a better more reasonably priced set. This was the solution that I found. These fit perfectly, are easy to install, and are very sturdy and well built. I love the design and how they blend in with the look of my car. These are a low cost plastic option I used for my Ford Escape. I only needed them to secure a car top luggage bag for a cross country trip. Some of the screws seemed to not tighten all the way (seemed to strip easily) and the two screws with a plastic cover on the nut (designed to be hand tightened) fell apart immediately. I had to modify the bracket to allow the two spare nuts to work. It held up fine for the 3,000 mile trip and should be OK as long as my daughter doesn't try to put something heavy on them. ... show more
