I think this is the best toaster oven I have ever had. It bakes potatoes perfectly. It heats to 400 in five minutes then I cook the potatoes another 55min so one hour start to finish. Each time the potatoes are great. It toasts a bagel just right using a function just for bagels. I know if I ever need another toaster oven it will be this one again. I'll begin with the good points, and then get to the warning. These Breville Smart Ovens are stunningly beautiful, and are super intuitive, and the cooking results are phenomenal. Nuf said on the good side: Breville has now sent me their 3rd Smart Oven, trying to get me a working one. (So far so good on unit #3... we'll see how it goes.) The problem seems to be a batch of faulty motherboards which can't withstand the heat of a full cooking cycle. The first two BOV845 which I received (new, not refurbished) toasted great, and re-heated great. But when I put each through a 40-minute bake, each in turn displayed the fatal error code E05, and shut down. Breville's instruction booklet directs you to unplug the oven immediately and return it for service. Note: this problem is not limited to the BOV845; I have read Amazon reviews of the compact version too, returning the same fatal error code. So I boxed up and returned my first unit, and Breville sent a second. And I boxed up and returned that second oven for the same E05 error code defect, and sent it back. But I have heard the conventional definition of insanity... and wanted out of this loop of boxing and returning BOV845 ovens. Williams Sonoma offers a Smart Oven Air Fryer (please know, this is NOT the same as the Smart Oven Air-- the "Air" is a much larger oven which will not fit on many countertops). The Smart Oven Air Fryer is even more beautiful than the BOV845, with chrome trim around its window, and a 1-piece looking, brushed stainless handle. It retails for $70 more than I paid for my BOV845, but Sonoma gives you a discount when you open their credit card, which made the price even. Why did I want to try this other unit? Because with the addition of the air fry feature, I was most certainly dealing with a slightly different motherboard. And I am banking that the E05 fault is a Chinese manufacturing defect, and not a design defect [eg. insufficient insulation]; thus the flaw would be (hopefully) limited to the BOV845 motherboards. Well, I've put this new Smart Oven Air Fryer BOV900 through a few 40-minute cook cycles now, without a problem. It's re-heating and toasting like a champ too. Like I said, we'll see if that lasts. Meantime, these 845s are great when they work. If you don't mind boxing up a dud or two before you get a working one, go for it. Breville, for their part, has responsive customer support, even through these challenging Covid times. They replaced the 1st unit, and refunded the 2nd unit, but refused to upgrade me to get away from these faulty motherboards. They even pushed their theory that my home outlet was at fault. Since that wall outlet is now servicing the BOV900 flawlessly (and served the predecessor Krups quartz oven flawlessly for 6 years as well), their theory is junk. Breville also refused to refund the aftermarket Amazon warranty I purchased alongside this BOV845. So in addition to all my re-boxing efforts, and my time without a working oven, I'm out another 20 bucks thanks to Breville. So I'm not saying buyer look elsewhere, since I find these ovens so desirable. But definitely, buyer beware. ... show more

It's easy to adjust the amount of toasting desired on your item and it's well lit inside so you can monitor what your toast looks like. I have used the oven feature as well. Have not had to clean it yet inside, but I suspect it's going to be easy too. All in all, this is a high quality product.

I had another Breville oven just like this only in Silver, it lasted 10 years, which I think is a very good long time. When I needed a new one, I had to buy this model, very much the same, but I love the color of this one and it has a couple extra features my old one didn't have. UPDATE--IT'S BEEN 4 YRS. STILL LOVE IT. The biggest selling point is still the fact that it doesn't HEAT UP SMALL KITCHEN. This will fit your CORNING WARE Casseroles (w/o lids). Pyrex. Smaller Rachael Ray. You can bake a loaf of bread, a meatloaf, a pan of 8x8 brownies, small trays of cookies. We are a small household of 3-4 , so this is perfect for us. The Convection Function Stopped Working 3 yrs in, but we didn't use it, so this does not bother us. Do remember to CLEAN this Oven on a Reg. Basis, esp. Top of Inside Front Door which catches lots of grease if you bake french fries, etc. I CANNOT say enough GREAT things about this oven. When it stops working I will IMMEDIATELY BUY OTHER ONE!! I have a VERY SMALL KITCHEN and I wanted one of these ovens that would not HEAT UP MY KITCHEN. I read Many reviews and I only found ONE that addressed this issue. If you want a multi-purpose oven that will not heat up your kitchen, this is it! I have used it on 90+ degree days, but it is not yet full-on summer. But I think it will continue to keep my kitchen from BLAZING in the summer because it has one GREAT ADVANTAGE. It heats up to 450 degrees in less than 4 mins! I am not kidding. The oven on my range takes at least 20 mins. And this makes all the difference. I've had my Breville Smart Oven for about a month now. I LOVE it. I use it every day. I toast my bagels in it. I toast hash browns and heat up bread in it. I have baked a big cookie in it, in the provided pan, and I have baked an apple crisp. The crisp did not turn out so well, but I am still learning to bake things. But I did do a squash casserole a couple of nights ago and it turned out well, just needed a bit more time to brown. And I have done up twice-baked potatoes and have roasted garlic potatoes. I have not turned on my oven once since this one came. And I plan my meals around NOT using my big oven.
