This is GREAT Coffee and their Customer Service is Awesome. I reported a slight issue with my order ( I got ground and I wanted Beans ) Cooper's Cask made good on the fix ( & then some ++ ). I will be ordering more of this coffee in the future.

So yes not great at first! However, the owner was absolutely amazing! He reached out after my initial review and not only refunded me but sent a box of his favorite and most recommended batches. Let just say that box smells and tasting SO GOOD! Shop here! Buy small business!

They are a fun novelty for a one off if you are a coffee and liquor fan. It was a fun gift idea. I did enjoy trying the different flavors, but none are daily drinkers. First, let me give you a bit of my background, I served 10 years in the USA Navy and made two deployments to the Middle East. If there is one thing that the US military drinks more than alcohol it’s coffee. You name it I have tried it and every way it can be served from black to fru fru, even those “extreme caffeine” coffees. I was skeptical of this coffee, but willing to try it. The smell you get when the coffee percolates was very light almost unnoticeable which kinda of was a negative for me (could be a positive for people who don’t like the smell of coffee). The first sip was quite pleasant smooth with a light sweetness of rum but very smooth. I then added a splash of milk and one spoon of sugar! Second sip, perfection!!! The sweet of the sugar heightened the flavor of the rum making it dance around my tongue. The rum flavor delicately fades away leaving no trace or after taste. I find myself yearning to take another sip. Standing out on my patio in the cold breeze air I take another sip and close my eyes, memories flood back to my more youthful days standing watch in the North Atlantic the ship heaving in the waves and the coffee like a gift from the gods! Update: Cooper's delivered a new batch to me and a single origin coffee sampler. Wow what a difference in taste!. This is great fresh coffee. I would definitely order again but I would order directly from Coopers. I am staying away from Amazon for coffee since I have never received a fresh bag of coffee. I tried the coffee in a regular drip coffee maker, and I even stuck the whiskey beans into my automatic espresso machine (Delonghi Eletta). Because these beans are aged when they are green (unroasted) there is no sticky flavor coating like other flavored beans, and as a result the auto espresso machines can grind these up fine. Both were excellent. I have yet to try it in a Chemex, aeropress, and french press. The coffee is a bit expensive, but next time I order, I will make an account on Cooper's website and they have a generous reward system which helps offset some of the cost. In their defense, there aren't many whiskey barrel aged coffee companies out there and it is very labor intensive. Even when I visited the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle and talked to the roasters, they said it was very labor intensive and they probably won't be making more for awhile. I would say this coffee was as good or better than Starbucks' Reserve whiskey aged coffee that was only served in Reserve stores and is no longer available. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previous Update Edited: The roaster contacted me about my review and I had mentioned that my bags didn't have a roast/expiration date. They said they have changed their process and there is an expiration date on the packages. I have recently ordered a couple bags of other branded coffee on Amazon. One came with 2 days left before expiring, and the other was 5 months old), and it seems like Amazon does not monitor their inventory well. Alot of their coffee they ship is old. I would deal directly with the vendor. They are going to send me a fresh roasted pack of coffee, and I will update my review. Full disclosure: I drink at Starbucks for the convenience, however when they had their whiskey barrel coffee at the Reserve, it was awesome! The rest of their regular coffee is burnt tasting. This coffee is weak in comparison sot Starbuck's whiskey barrel Sumatra, and it goes stale quicker than other coffees. On top of that, the price is not cheap. I would not recommend. ... show more

I sent them this coffee because they love to grind their coffee and use a French press to make the coffee. My son in law loves whiskey so when I saw this coffee it seemed made for them. They love it! They said there was a hint of the whiskey but not enough that it overpowered the coffee.

I wanted to love this. As an avid whiskey and black coffee drinker, this seemed like it would be right up my alley. Let’s start with flavor. (Best way to brew for optimal flavor: French press) Each package is obviously different and unique, however, extremely underwhelming. You have to concentrate to even begin to taste something different than your regular everyday coffee. I personally give the flavor 2/5, because there is a mild difference between this and your normal cup, but nothing worth the price. Value for the money: Wonderful idea, packaging 4 samples in one box! Each sample is 4 oz. You get several uses out of each bag, ensuring you are able to have more than one cup of each. I don’t mind spending this amount of money to test out a few different samples. I give 3/5, because I love the idea of this. If the flavors were stronger, I would bump up a point or two. Packaging: I purchased whole bean. Each sample came in a sealed, and resealable bag, in the box as shown in the photos. Each bag is 4 oz. I enjoy being able to reseal them, as the seal on it is tight and secure. 5/5. Overall, it’s worth testing out if you’re curious, don’t mind lack of flavor, and have the extra money to spend.
