  • Great Log Splitter that is easy to store
Style: 7 Ton Electric Log Splitter
This was bought for my husband. He uses it to split wood for our woodstove. It works great and is compact in size and easy to store. It is very quiet, compared to gas powered ones. So far he really likes this because it is so easy to use and maneuver.

  • Awesome, Awesome, and Awesome
Style: 7 Ton Electric Log Splitter
ups dollied it up to my garage door, and rolled it inside after ringing door bell. Box was manufactured box and Styrofoam was molded to protect and surround the 100 pound Boss log splitter. It was simple to open box and remove machine from box. A+ I read directions in manual just because wise thing to do. I opened the fly nut 6 or 7 times and ran it until air was out of hydraulic line. After retightened I decided to check oil on the stick after reading reviews about oil being at lowest line from factory. I tilted it up on end and put 7mm hex in nut and will not move. I mean will not turn loose. So I called 800 number. Got a very pleasant gentlemen on phone that told me that's because they use thread lock so it will not leak in transit. He said you have to give the hex wrench a hard tap to break the glue or use a lock creasant wrench (vise-grips) to lock on the round end of hex dip stick and give that a tap to loosen. This is not in the manual. Word of advise: Do not strip your 7mm hex nut, use the lock wrench and tap it and behold it is loose. Then screw it out with hex wrench that is included. I found the hydrologic oil to still be between the lines. Then I spent about 3 hours splitting about half a cord of wood. it went through my hard sweet gum ball wood like butter( if you get it with the grain) . Stacked it and covered it and done. Also use some kind of silicone spray on the black and red back and forth stuff. Oil will cause wood chips to stick to it. And it helps to prevent screeching sounds. Great price, great design, great one handed control. I'll never wear this thing out. I bought from amazon there 50 foot 12 guage 15 amp cord and it works great with no issues. great price also http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002HWRS6S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 ... show more

  • A Quiet Log Splitter for the Homeowner
Style: 7 Ton Electric Log Splitter
I bought this splitter after a canadian friend recommended it. I have not been disappointed. This splitter is NOT intended for commercial, all day use or for rounds from giant oak trees! But for the casual user splitting logs up to 15"-18" diameter, it is ideal. The description says it will split up to 20" logs, but I wouldn't recommend trying to split a lot of 20" oak or hickory logs! This splitter is pretty much already assembled right out of the box...pretty much all I had to do was add the handle. I was sold on this splitter by the fact that it is ONE-HANDED operation. Other brands require that you use two hands to operate the splitter. That reduces the chance of getting your hand caught and crushed between the log and the splitter head. I'm pretty safety conscious and I don't need the safety police watching over me, so I opted for this splitter. I was concerned about the length of extension cord that can be used with this unit, but I am currently using a 100' 12 ga cord with no problem. With a small gasoline powered generator, this splitter can even be taken to the woods in your pickup and used in the field. The splitter is low to the ground, and I found that after about an hour, I had significant lower back pain from all the bending over. I solved this (as did my canadian friend) by building a small platform table out of 2x4s and plywood to raise the splitter about 18" off the ground. I also built side tables to keep the split logs from falling to the ground where I had to bend over to pick them up. These additions have made this splitter an even better performer. I have lots of gum trees on my property and they are nuisances, dropping "gum balls" all over the ground,. I cut them and use them for firewood. They're certainly not ideal for splitting with an axe, but this splitter makes short work of their fibrous, stringy texture. I cut the rounds no longer than about 18" and use a couple of 4x4s to shorten the stroke. The cycle time is about 10 seconds for these logs. This splitter can be used in a garage...out of the weather. Don't try that with a gasoline powered splitter! I would recommend this splitter for the homeowner who needs a quiet, electric splitter for small logs. ... show more
