Works flawlessly, really nice design to get around the lack of space for a touch screen in older vehicles. The tilt and up/down positioning really helps you get the most out of the screen. It has options to hook up fwd and rear facing cameras with auto reverse. And mp3/mp4 playback with the parking brake signal applied. Carplay/Android auto is both wired and wireless and works perfectly once booted although it does seem to take a minute to open after initial start up. Audio is also quieter through either application but I've noticed that is the case with every stereo equipped with those applications. The screen is well visible and sensitive to touch but the operating system does seem to lag intermittently. Overall I'm very pleased with the fit and function for price as I didnt have to modify any of the existing dash features as others have done before to fit touchscreens in these particular jeeps. If I needed to recreate this same fitment I wouldn't bother with any other stereo but this one. (I tried and returned 2 others before pulling the trigger for this) ... show more

I installed this on an early 2000’s car that I drive almost daily. The install was pretty simple for anyone who’s installed the head deck before. Make sure you get the right wire harnesses and you’re ready to run a few wires for your back up cam and mic assuming you choose to install them. It’s been at least over a year since I installed this head deck and I have not had any problems. CarPlay works well, the resolution is fine as well. There is a bit of lag when swiping through menus but not enough to be a dealbreaker and certainly not enough for me to lower my rating. With this unit being a single DIN that effectively becomes an adjustable double DIN I With this unit being a single DIN that effectively transforms into an adjustable double DIN, I would say it’s definitely worth the investment.     • Great inexpensive car stereo

Other than a few small issues, this stereo works great for the money. A few glitches once in a while, like working with Amazon music. I added a back up camera and that's so nice to have in my Ford F-350 super duty. Didn't have to cut up the dash, just got the single din adapter for my truck and install was very easy. Didn't have wireless android so I purchased a wireless adapter and it works pretty good, automatically connects although it's a bit slow every once in a while. Didn't want to have to plug my phone in Everytime I got into the truck. I love the adjustable and REMOVABLE! screen. With very little effort, Boss could make this into one extremely awesome stereo. It sounds awesome even with my factory speakers. Would recommend and I don't regret my purchase at all ... show more

    • Outstanding for price point

This is an outstanding head unit for the price point. The form factor, features, and build quality are very good. It’s also a ‘real’ head unit in the sense that it’s not just an android tablet stuck to the dash where you have to navigate an android home screen and apps to do things. The floating display is a lot better than I expected for the price and looks good. It is capacitive touch as well. The real volume knob is a welcome upgrade from the typical units with buttons for volume. The buttons next to the knob however can get inadvertently tapped sometimes if you drag your fingers across them by choking up too much on the knob. That’s easily avoided once you see how it can happen. The single din form factor was what led me to this unit in the first place since I’m limited to single din with a very tight bezel on my 1996 f-350. The floating display clears the bezel perfectly and can be angled perfectly to the driver. The only thing to consider is that due to the weight and floating display this single din will have to be supported in the rear. The factory rear support for mine was gone so I had to make one for my truck. I wouldn’t personally rely on just the sleeve for mounting. I wouldn’t hesitate to install one of these even in a double din slot after using it though. The input and output options are very full featured. I liked that in addition to front and rear camera inputs there are also 500ma power outputs to connect for the cameras so you don’t have to scavenge power from somewhere else. Many of the inputs are pigtailed as well so you have more flexibility on placement and the ability to seal plugs like RCAs together with tape or heat shrink so they don’t come loose. I’m not that picky on audio but everything sounds fine to me. There are also a lot of good UI/config options such as the ability to disable the license agreement from popping up every time after the first view, etc. The only real issue I’ve run into is that sometimes upon restarting the vehicle after having listened to BT audio or CarPlay it starts up with the volume muted or at 0. Easy to deal with once you realize what’s going on. I don’t see any firmware updates so I’m not sure if Boss provides any. ... show more

    • Speakers didn't work

I installed this, worked great... once. Powered off, then on, and speakers didn't work. I uninstalled disconnected the harness, worked. Power off then on... didn't. I thought it was a loose connection, so I soldered and shrunk-sealed all the wires, same thing. I put the OEM radio in, speakers worked fine... nothing wrong with the car. Nothing wrong with the wire harness. This is 100% the system. Now I can't return it. So frustrating. ... show more

Easy install, looks good and fits a 1989 Suzuki sidekick quite well. It has many feature I will not use. I was disappointed this one did not have any type of usb ports. Not really needed. So far this is a winner.
