  • Impressive and EZ
Replacing lifetime Whirlpool 82g 5500w 2008 that got sediment filled beyond what 6mo purging could cure (small town water supply always under repairs) so was not expecting much from these "little brother" specifications. That said, our 4 kids grew up, so not so much the need for so much water. I read about shipping reviews not good but locally, only the cheap & small stuff is placed in stock, so had to order out anyway, then go pick it up. This came directly to house, just yards away from replacement area in timely fashion, faster than most local selections' ETA. Packing impressive, not one blemish on anything inside. Good instructions, plenty of hot water reporting after 24hrs: whirlpool, shower, washer, etc. This 50 gal doesn't have bells & whistles like the smart one that departed. Open the T&B panels to set the thermostats is IT. SOP was 120d, we reset to 125d. Reset again to 130d as required by 36x60 whirlpool tubbing, else may run out of HW in TX winters. Instructions are to purge in 6mos then only annually but with a dedicated rubber hose attached, EZ to resume 6mo purges due to water co. sediment woes. Will be Certainly easier to replace than that 24"diam 82gal in a 25"d closet! ONLY Complaint: Cheap Polyethylene drain hose bibb, topped with cheap short-lived knob valve. VERY EZ to screw up these threads!!! This WILL be trouble down the years. Solution: permanently attach brass ball valve to plastic bibb, its valve ON then to rubber hose rated for high temps that can reach outside. Post a drainage record card on WH, now EZ to drain 2/yr. ... show more

  • Buy It
The media could not be loaded. One month in, super impressed. I usually wait to review electronics until they’ve had a little life. Chronic problem on here with reviewing too early. Bosch partnered with Amazon to build these in Mexico just for amazon customers. Only available here. Came home from Europe to a bad gas leak under my garage slab. Rather than jack hammer my concrete floor up or run a new gas line to keep the fracking industry alive, we elected to convert the whole house to electric. We have solar and we’re still in the black during daylight hours with this unit, even in winter. I ran a dedicated 8g 220 circuit breaker to the box, had a plumber do the install. I was a little nervous about moving from a 50 gal gas Rheem to a skinny 40 gal electric with a family of four but we have not run out of hot water yet, even with a bath and immediate shower after. This thing keeps up very well. They sent a damaged one first and it was easy to order the replacement, while an absolute nightmare to get UPS to take back the one they slammed around. Something about the packaging (which was damaged when they delivered). 2nd one is flawless and works great. No one has reviewed this thing yet. So I guess I’m the first. As of a month in, I highly recommend. ... show more

  • So far so good!
After proudly buying a Bradford White American water heater that broke THREE TIMES within 4 years and had to be replaced with a limited warranty at my own expense each time with the company not standing behind their product, knowing the inside shatters and leaks...and the last time, it would have cost me the amount of buying a new one... so I decided to go German with my appliances. I got this 40 gallon TALL version (to save a little room) about 8 months ago...so far, so good. No regrets. I had it professionally installed...all has gone well. America, if you want us to buy American, give us something that holds up. ... show more

  • An expensive water heater for less than 1 year!
The reason I purchased this hot water is the warranty and the premise of high quality products by Bosch. After 3 months the product began leaking. Just a few cup fills at first. Our hot water heater, incidentally was installed by a licensed plumber. Soon it began leaking more and more water. A plumber was called. They did a thermal imaging and determined the tank had a leak. I called the Bosch warranty department and told them what happened. After an hour on the phone they told me to have the plumber call. They did. Spoke to them at great lengths, told the plumber we would need to have an HVAC person call. Then they hung up. I spent 1300$ for a product that began leaking after 3 months. I’ve paid an electrician, plumber and now a HVAC person ( almost $400) per the insistence of Bosch Warranty for a product with a 10 year warranty. Today I paid to have a Rheem water installed. The Bosch hot water is in my driveway awaiting the next demand from the warranty department. Do not buy this product under any circumstances. It is poorly manufactured and for all intents and purposes, is not covered by the company. I learned my lesson. ... show more

  • It fit and it works.
If you need 30 gallons and only have 18 inches this will fit. Most 30 Gallons are wider.

  • Works great, easy installation
It was easy to install and it works great. I have it on the lowest setting possible and the water is just barely hot enough. So there is no need to turn it above 120 degrees F.

  • Arrived upside down with damaged water outlet nipple
Box was also heavily damaged with heater scratched. Hope to get replacement damaged nipples from Bosch, but customer service closed when heater was delivered. Bosch needs larger arrows showing which side should be up. All weight was on the water inlet and outlet nipples.
