This bonsai starter kit is an excellent gift for bonsai lovers. The quality of pots is nice. I gifted it to my friend months ago and she loved it. The plant sprouted very well and is thriving till now. The directions are veey clear and easy to follow. Great kit.

    • Don’t waste your money
Most of the seeds didn’t germinate despite following the directions exactly. Who knows how long they’ve been sitting in some warehouse on a shelf but the seeds are dead. Only one out of 7 germinated but they didn’t make it past a few weeks.

    • Some good seeds but others are dead!
Edit: The seller aided me in this product and the issue has been resolved! A couple of packets from this kit have crushed seeds and a couple that look devoid of life. A hole was in the small packet of dirt pucks, but the other stuff seemed to be okay. A little disappointed in how it was packaged so I recommend being cautious when buying this. ... show more

Has cute rectangular bowls that almost look like wood. You have to soak the seeds overnight before planting them. This is 20 days after planting, 4 kinds of seeds have sprouted so far. Hopefully they all grow. Fingers crossed!

    • Disappointed even with low expectations
While it was nice to have everything I needed to grow bonsai from seed, this was just a hair above a fail. I'm an experienced gardener and house plant owner, and I followed the directions exactly. I didn't expect this kit to be above average, but I did expect more than a 10% germination rate. I planted 3 seeds from each variety, and only 2 varieties sprouted. Only one seed from each of those sprouted. I did go back and replant 3 seeds in the 5 with no sprouts, and 2 more seeds in each of the 2 varieties that had one sprout. They didn't come up. My best guess is that the seeds are old or weren't stored properly. I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt even with the other negative reviews, but now I've seen it for myself. The 2 stars I gave was only because it is a complete kit and was very easy to follow directions. I'm going to order a kit from a different company, and hopefully I have better luck with that. ... show more

Original review... I would like to try again with other seeds but no way to contact seller *** Update *** The seller saw my review and contacted me via email. They immediately worked to resolve my issue. I was sent a replacement package to try again. I have not had sprouts yet, due to them not yet having enough time...
