I've had a couple of food scales before this that were lower profile and more compact but I appreciate this scales large weighing surface. I've also found that this scale is quite accurate over the whole plate. It comes with a 100g reference/calibration weight. Placing this weight in the center and all 4 corners yields exactly 100g for me (no variation). After a few months of use I still haven't had to recalibrate it. I keep this scale plugged in on my counter but it is also battery powered if needed. I bought this scale to measure ingredients for breadmaking. Typical weight ranges for those ingredients go from a kilogram or more down to a gram. This scale seems to cover that entire range. The display is out from under the platform so it’s easy to read, even when you have a fairly large container sitting on the platform. My only hesitation is that, when adding very small increments to an already small amount (like adding .3 g to a gram or 2) it seems like you need to add more than 1/10 of a gram (the reported sensitivity of this scale) before the display moves. I’m optimistic, that at those tiny levels, the difference of a 10th of a gram one way or the other is not going to make a difference in my bread. But this hesitation is the only reason that I didn’t give it five stars. Overall, I am very happy with this scale. ... show more

I needed an accurate scale that could measure down to 0.001 oz. This scale does just that. The ability to plug it in or use it's built in lithium battery is wonderful. Lithium battery dead and not outlet nearby? No problem, toss in 2 AA batteries, and you're good to go! The amount of features this scale has is phenomenal. I like almost everything about this scale. It's low-profile and looks clean. It has a high weight tolerance, but sub-gram precision. It can count in pieces or in percentages (great for baking by percentage). The one thing I'm not fond of is that the sub-gram decimal is not distinguished in size or distance from the rest of the numbers, so 603g doesn't look like '603.4' but more like '6034'.
